#ACBASundaySpecial Photo of the week! Photo by 30 year old Leonard Albert Aguilar (darth_leonard) from the Philippines. Leonard has been collecting primarily Star Wars Darth Vader figures since he was a kid but began to expand and venture out, getting into the Marvel Legends line in 2012. In the photo above he captures every version of the Marvel Legends Deadpool released from Toybiz and Hasbro rocking out to a crowd of various other Marvel Legends figures. The drum-set and guitars came from the McFarlane Motley Crew set. Creative, funny, good lighting and great posing.
#ACBASundaySpecial Photo of the week! Photo by 22 year old Gian Paulo Navarro Basobas from Quezon City, Philippines. Gian says he resumed collecting toys around 2008, and he has been into toy photography since 2010. "I joined #ACBA last year if I'm correct, because of a friend, Arvin Trinidad." He says he really loved the shots and dioramas he saw in the group. In the photo above he captures the Funko Game of Thrones Sandor Clegane aka "The Hound" figure carrying some decapitated head accessorizes from the McFarlane Headless Horseman/Sleep Hollow set. He also used a #Dioback back drop, (which he says he uses often) and goes on to say, "I try my best to make it look like one cohesive shot.. Like bringing the figure into the backdrop." Very well done great mesh and a stellar shot.
#ACBASundaySpecial Photo of the week! Photo by 24 year old Mike Wang from Toronto Canada. Mike says he has been displaying/collecting for a little over a year. "It's probably one of the most humbling experiences to think you know everything about figure photography, only to scroll through the #ACBA Facebook page feed and get schooled to something new by vets and newcomers alike. If you don't want to settle for average, but would rather strive for perfection, that is where you need to be." In the photo above Mike utilizes a technique we call "Got You Covered" in #articulatedcomicbookart in which a comic cover is replicated using action figures. Here he captures the Dark Avengers 12 cover utilizing all 3.75 inch Marvel Universe figures. Clean. View this post on Tumblr to find other places to connect with Mike online.
#ACBASundaySpecial Photo of the week! Photo by 27 year old James Collins (@savage_serenity) from Houston Texas. James has been collecting and displaying for over 15 years and after about a year long absence from the #acba group he returned a month or so ago with a vengeance. Posting several stellar shots in succession. In the photo above he captures the NECA Bioshock 2 Big Daddy and Eleanor Lamb figures going for a leisurely stroll. Expert level lighting and focus here, beautiful shot.
#ACBASundaySpecial Photo of the week! Photo by 36 year old Craig Warrack from Edinburgh, UK with his 2nd #acba Sunday Special feature. Craig has been customizing for pretty much all his life but has been really serious about it for the past 7 years. In the photo above he captures his custom Doctor Doom figure sitting in his fully customized throne room. Amazing work all around, leaving no detail out, complete with a stain glass window behind the throne. This was the most viewed, liked, shared and commented on video this past week and you MUST check out his #articulatedcomicbookart video showcasing the figure and this set. #ACBASundaySpecial photo of the week! Photo by 32 year old Muhammad Nurullah (@darkrider1463s) from Boston MA. Muhammad has been collecting since he was a kid. "Mostly Transformers and Star Wars." He goes on to say, " I joined my first Facebook group 3 years ago and found #ACBA through a member sharing a Transformer display, I joined right away last October and have been grinding everyday. I've started collecting other types of figures because of ACBA." In the photo above he captures the Hasbro Star Wars Black Series (6") Han Solo on the run from Boba Fett. A nice cotton smoke effect to show Boba's elevation and to help create the illusion of flight while hiding the flight stand beneath him. A few props, including what appears to be the steps to the Millennium Falcon. Great posing on Han, well contained, and crisp. Nicely done. Muhammad's final quote, (and I assume he's referring to #articulatedcomicbookart) is a quote from Watchmen " If I am to have a symbol, it shall be one I respect." #ACBASundaySpecial photo of the week! Photo by 23 year old Eric Aguilar (@comic_figure) from Phoenix, AZ. Eric says he discovered #ACBA about 2 years ago, "Thats the main reason I started collecting again." He proclaims. In the photo above Eric captures a two on one battle between the Marvel Legends Puck BAF wave Wolverine figure vs Marvel Legends Arnim Zola BAF wave Daken and Toybiz Marvel Legends Sabertooth. As posing is the basis and the foundation for any great display and is the most important factor of #articulatedcomicbookart this photo really stood out in the Facebook group as the true essence of the art form (minus a cut out). Still, it's a raw tangible display with expert level posing, clean cropped and contained. Well done. Eric's final quote, "Do You".
