The American Craft Council asked me to share my experience at last years American Craft Made Baltimore show so here it is!
✨Applications for the American Craft Made / Baltimore Marketplace 2024 are open until August 9th! I love this show for many reasons, but the biggest reason is simple: The community! I’m Amy Sun Ah Blair a polymer clay jewelry artist from Baltimore Maryland and this was my experience from last years show:
✨Setup is always a wild time! I was grateful to have the help of my wonderful partner Kirk. I met the neighboring artists in my row and ran into some friends from past years setting up before I left.
✨I did my first ever podcast interview! Wow I was nervous but somehow managed to talk about my work and the upcoming show. The best part was I met @hge_designs and @bumbershootsbynana who were also on the podcast. It was so fun to get to know them in person at the show and see their beautiful work later that weekend!
✨The thing that lights me up the most is being able to connect with others through my art. I love meeting and getting to know everyone who stops by my booth and hearing their stories. I met so many people at this show and also reconnected with a lot of old friends who stopped by. Support for the art community is very strong here and you can feel it.
✨Saturday evening I went to dinner at @AlmaCocinaLatina with a group of Artist friends. We all met through ACC’s emerging artist program and it’s been one of the greatest joys to reconnect with them in person at the show every year. We are all jewelry artists so it’s nice to swap ideas but mostly we end up telling stories and laughing way too hard! I’m so grateful to have met these wonderful humans. @denisa.piatti @vivasmithstudio @jowitaallen
✨Last day of the show. It went by so fast! I spent today talking with new customers and taking a few surprise wholesale orders. I had time at the end of the day to visit the other Baltimore artists in the show and loved seeing the immense talent and incredible body of work people have on display. I always feel so inspired being here.
✨If you are an artist looking to share your work with a vibrant supportive art community I encourage you to apply!
