This hospital threw a fit when they saw I had a service dog. Saying crap like because I have an SD I don't have as much right to stay with my husband as an able bodied person. They also asked for paperwork and certificates. They were so insistent I leave that my husband had to threaten to leave AMA to get them to stop.

Then they said they don't allow any service animals (yes its being reported AFTER we go home) but I'd be allowed "as a one time exception because your husband needs you here" .

I went over the video of what happened today. The guy was a dick, at one point ignoring me and walking away to avoid giving me his name.

But I gotta say I was spot on. I quoted those laws EXACTLY. I didn't scream, I didn't cry. I stated the laws and my rights exactly as im suppose to and if nothing else I can be proud of myself for that.

Access denial at [redacted] Mall. Staff is completely ignorant about the laws.

I'm waiting until Monday when they tell me how they're resolving it internally and then filing DOJ/State complaints. I have it on video of the guy telling me to leave and that I have to tell him what my disability is and that SDs have to wear vests (mine was vested so not sure why that came up) and then they started asking for papers.

Whole time this guy is an inch from my face screaming.

I'm very shook up. My friend had me call my therapist. Therapist suggested using the sedatives I was just prescribed and also some other sensory coping skills.

I'm still very upset. Will be uploading another post with the video and photos of the incident.

Nalla all happy and tucked into our Lyft. The first driver denied me access because of Nalla. ☹️ I called Lyft and me and the guy on the phone had a good laugh about the stupid email I signed up for Lyft with. The driver will most likely be deactivated. We got here safe and the second driver was a really nice lady, she goes to the college by me.

I was illegally denied access with my service dog at Simon Med in Oviedo, FL. I showed and explained the laws and they said the law didn’t matter only their “corporate policy” I got a disability advocate on the phone, they refused to listen or speak to her. 

They eventually told me to just leave. They refused to give me anything in writing. Just a card with a phone numer on it that no one answered when I called.

I came home uncontrollably crying. I’m so upset.

It’s not even like I had my SDIT. I had Nalla, a 10 year old service dog who’s been through numerous MRIs, CTs, Ultrasounds, and other medical tests without any issue. But I was still denied.

They said Nalla can't be in the pre op or recovery. I told the nurse to go ahead and he the office manager, since I knew it would escalate to that. Office manager is like what about allergies. I tried to show her the law and she "doesn't want to see the phone the corporate policy is what matters". Except that it doesn't. They finally said ok she can be in pre op they'll just sequester me in a corner. But no dog in recovery she has to sit in the waiting room with Zac. So that would mean I couldn't have a person knowledgeable of my condition to advocate for me. I said no, she's legally allowed there too. And they started on the well you have to worry about other patients. Actually no, I don't. That's your job. I told them she would be in recovery or we could cancel the surgery and my lawyer (who doesn't exist) could call and arrange something . So they said they'll allow it, but I'll be back in my sequestered corner of pre op for recovery. My heart is through the roof and I almost angry fainted. I'm so fucking mad.
