Faith in God is Friendship with God
UPDATE! God is wrecking my heart! Sunday Sept. 6, 2015 God, knocked me on my face while listening a sermon at Reality Church in Papillion, NE. I suppose y’all want to know why that is, huh? Or maybe you don’t and that’s cool too (if that’s the case you can stop reading now). All my life I have always searched for a friendship. A real, deep, committed, honest person in my life that is with me no matter what. I’ve always strived to even be that person in hopes that I might find that in return. In some cases I’ve found it. Yet still, quickly & painfully the let down comes. I knew it would, we always know it will. Yet we still hope. Thanks to social media today I have gained these expectations. Thanks to social media and the world we all live in today I have this vision of love, acceptance, influence, non stop fun & excitement, and all the joys of selfies. But it all ends. The disappointment always comes. Because no one can take on that position….except God. On Sunday, the speaker in church said as his mission statement, “Faith in God is Friendship with God.” It hit me like a rock. God wants to be my friend? Me? Selfish and sinning me? I am constantly blown away by this thought now. God, isn’t trying to punish me. He simply wants my friendship. Guys, God wants our friendship so much He sent His son to die for us!? Like whaaaaaaatt? So here’s the deal, it’s time to stop seeking acceptance, love, security and influence in others. You will NEVER find it outside of God. Start to see God as “your bestie.” Start calling yourself a friend of God. Start a relationship with Him. Start your friendship over. Start fresh with Him. Get this…He is a forgiving God. We’ve made church all about the show and the people you meet there but really it’s all about God. HE STILL WANTS YOU. Start behaving as friends with Him. Spend time with Him, get to know Him, take an interest in what interest Him, listen & respond and allow yourself to be venerable with Him. Finally, tell others about Him. This is one friendship that deserves all the bragging rights.
