Day 23: Write something or post a picture about asexuality that upsets you.

Not 100% sure I understand this. Like something people say about asexuality? Easy.. Or something about being ace that bothers me? 

Idk. I guess I have to say it’s hard when you’re surrounded by people who think the end-all-be-all of life is to be with another person and that colors every little thing they say and it’s all you can do not to flinch just from the casual assumption that you understand where they’re coming from. Or how every single assessment I do at work, every patient answers with the last time they’ve had sex is like daily within the last week and I’m just like..... but whyyyyyyy....  

TLDR; I don’t get people and their obsessive drive to always need another person. it’s like if they don’t have another person they’ll wither away and I just don’t get it, and they all assume I’m the same.. it took me a long time to figure out how I wasn’t

Day 15: Your favorite asexual character/celebrity/person.

There aren’t a ton of ace celebrities out there, I know a comedian and one of the judges on a fashion show? I’m not a huge fan of either, even though I stan both for being bold in their asexuality. 

But I will fight anyone for Raphael Santiago on Shadowhunters - openly ace, badass vampire, in a romantic relationship with Isabelle Lightwood briefly... I love it!

Day 30: Tell us anything about asexuality that you want to end with.

I’m glad it’s a spectrum. It’s not a fixed thing, we all find the identity that fits us for right now. My mother swears up and down that I’m only ace bc I haven’t found the “right person” and maybe that’s true. Maybe I’m demi and I’ll be more into sex with someone later in life. I doubt it, but it’s a possibility. Being ace is what it is to me. No one else gets a say and I like the empowerment that gives me over my life and my body.
