hi! I just finished A Restless Truth and would like to say 10/10, incredible, finished it two days ago and am already considering rereading it. I was wondering, though, if you had any extant/museum examples that you referenced when describing Maud and Violet's dresses? I'm a dress historian and historical costumer and I've been wanting to make myself a 1910s wardrobe- and what better way to do that than recreating a dress from a book i loved!

hello! I have SO much admiration for historical costumers, as someone who was absurdly proud of the few simple cosplay outfits she's made over the years.

the dresses in the book are based on images of dresses from the right time period, but not identical to them. if you're looking for specific examples, here are the two that I gave @ming85 for reference when she was doing the ART promo art. you can see that the blue one is a fairly good basis for the ink-blue gown that violet wears in the book, and that the cream one is the style I was thinking of for the gown maud wears with layers of grey gauze:

okay I NEEDED to share this with someone and since you're talking about TMA OCs... I just started playing Stardew Valley and I was GOING to name my animals after TMA characters until I bought a chicken and the randomized name was Grungus. I lost it it was so funny I had to keep it. and, well, now my TMA oc is Grungus [last name redacted] he's an Avatar of the flesh and I hate everything about him

water; he’s seems very calm upon first glance but later on you can see that he’s quite unpredictable and quick to make decisions based on his emotions at the time

10. do they have any family?

well he’s dalish so yeah. but as far as blood family goes his mother and father died in the fifth blight and his sister is all he has left and he’s violently protective even for a dalish

kids definitely!! salem is tal-vashoth so he frequently looked after the youngest while the adults were gone and they all love him. he goes out of his way to make sure the kids are comfortable at skyhold and they come to love him even if him being a qunari threw them off

12. what’s the Inquisitor’s favorite food?

any and all seafood! 

13. can they cook?

very basic things? but nothing too complex haha

Rosalina 6. she is the definition of chaotic good8. roses and pomegranate 9. I will now admit to having concocted a rather elaborate background story for my mage inquisitor. But yeah she definitely went with the rebel mages but soon enough broke away from the group (also elf friend?? there’s an elf friend)14. she likes to read, ride horses, stand in the rain, lie on the floor, and come up with creative uses for magic (lighting arrows on fire that won’t go out until it strikes! using mild ice magic to cure headaches! punching a templar in the face! huzzah it is a wonderful world, that last one was another hobby, not magic) Amarie!!12. she likes sugary foods (cookies, candies) b/c the dalish don’t really have sugar and so it was a rare treat13. she can prepare foods and bake but not really formally cook17. She likes Josephine b/c they’re both quiet and because Josie is very respectful. She also gets along well with Dorian and Cassandra for entirely different reasons. She initially liked Solas because ~elf~ but then got a bad feeling about him.

Hmm, that depends where you live. Either autumn or spring, because of how variable they are.

11 Are they better with children, animals, or neither?

Animals, easily. Tanaraeli can calm most animals. Tanaraeli cannot deal with screaming children.

13 Can they cook?

Tanaraeli has probably burned icecream.

19 Do they have any scars? What are they from?

Yes. One scar. Tanaraeli got it bathing in a glacial stream after a very bad thing happened. Tanaraeli was doing their best to not look at their body. They slipped. Hit a rock. Cut their middle, on their right side. Never told the Keeper, because they didn’t want anyone else to know what had happened.
