hi! I just finished A Restless Truth and would like to say 10/10, incredible, finished it two days ago and am already considering rereading it. I was wondering, though, if you had any extant/museum examples that you referenced when describing Maud and Violet's dresses? I'm a dress historian and historical costumer and I've been wanting to make myself a 1910s wardrobe- and what better way to do that than recreating a dress from a book i loved!
hello! I have SO much admiration for historical costumers, as someone who was absurdly proud of the few simple cosplay outfits she's made over the years.
the dresses in the book are based on images of dresses from the right time period, but not identical to them. if you're looking for specific examples, here are the two that I gave @ming85 for reference when she was doing the ART promo art. you can see that the blue one is a fairly good basis for the ink-blue gown that violet wears in the book, and that the cream one is the style I was thinking of for the gown maud wears with layers of grey gauze:
