    vos isn’t NEW to the sight of blood ; it’s splashed on more of his years than he can count. rivers could run red with how much he’s seen, but never with how much he’s dealt. vos starts to shift hesitantly from foot to foot, because something’s different when he sees ace’s motion to his face ; something’s different, because the blood is centered around the other’s mouth.

             ❝   LOOK, if you’re really that iffy about it, it’s fine, okay? we don’t have to be that couple, i mean -------- of  c o u r s e, we don’t have to be any couple.    or kind of couple. or anything.    i mean, i’d  l i k e  to be something,    & don’t look at me like that,   like this is some kind of power play you think you’re not playing. don’t say that you don’t -------- i don’t know, i’m not going to label it, you know? it’s not like i could pin you down in any way, even verbally.    -----------    A L L   i’m saying is that a date would be great. with you. i’d even bring flowers, or chocolate     ----------     &  yeah,    OBVIOUSLY you’re not that guy, but what does that MATTER? i am. & this is how i show affection, sue me. dinner reservations,   c o u r t i n g .     if that freaks you out,   that’s  f i n e .                     but i’ll still be here.  ❞
