Asian Clothing Figurines Review
Asian Clothing: Chinese Hanfu
Hanfu Type: Tang-dynasty Style
Accuracy Rating: 4/5
Explanation: Not bad, but a little plain. She appears, since I can’t quite get a good look, to be wearing a Tang-dynasty inspired look with a qixiong-ruqun (i.e. chest-high skirt & blouse outfit), a daxiushan (i.e. robe with long deep sleeves and large sleeve openings), and a pibo (i.e. long, scarf-like ribbon). The only real inconsistencies appear to be the ruffled underskirt (a modern addition) and that the openings of the sleeves are small because they’ve been sewn closed.
The overall color scheme is also a little strange. It gives strong miko-priestess vibes (what with all the red and white tones), but the Harvest Moon Festival (a.k.a. the Mid-Autumn Festival) isn’t a particularly religious or sacred holiday, so the association is a little off. If anything, they could’ve done more to make her outfit more Moon inspired or even reference the story of Chang’e, which is heavily associated with the holiday.
