Hey Eve! Lemme spread the knowledge of being a vet assistant who took grooming classes. First of all, yeah you're right, in the summer it's best to shave you're long haired dog, and unless they are really light coated or you shave them literally down to the skin (Which you shouldn't do, more risk for clipper burn, duh. Should only be used in emergencies) Your groomer should ask you how short you want it, and you can look at examples. I shaved my dog just one above the shortest and she still-
Has quite enough fur to protect her from the sun. Hell, if you have something like, say a collie of some short, even getting their fur trimmed to where it just is a couple inches long is better than the crazy long ass shit they usually have when it gets really hot. Plus, dogs are like people, they shouldn't be out in the sun for long ass periods of times. Cause even if they are dark-coated, they have a higher risk of heat stroke. Shave your dogs, get some sun cream, and give them water
And people were actually trying to argue with me about this. Rolls eyes. Pets get too hot, shave ‘em down, people.
