A thing that never stopped bugging me is that when we look at Kagaris work history it states that he assed the secondary lvl knowledge test in 2103. Either i am horrible at math or he was only 12 at that time. Which means that he only has elementary school education? I dont know much about the japanese school system so i could be horribly wrong.
I agree 100%. I think that Kagari has ever only possessed elementary school education. And I think that the Sibyl System did this on purpose.
Have you ever heard of inmates in jails who are at the end of their sentencing, and can now go free, but would rather stay in jail because they’re afraid of rehabilitation in the outside world. Do you know why that is? Because they’ve been in jail for so long, oftentimes it’s all they really know. Once they’re free, they’ll have trouble finding suitable, life long work, because a lot of the time they never finished their education before they were in jail. Making a living is hard, especially if you’ve been in jail all that time and don’t have any education passed High School.
Such is the case with the latent criminals in Psycho Pass. With Kagari especially, because he was so young when he was locked away, the system completely and utterly screwed him over. They locked him away and he never got any education passed basic learning in elementary school levels. If he was in there until he was, what, 18? why did nobody bother to educate him further? Because the system is making sure that Kagari will take the only option given to him, which is to join the safety bereu as a hunting dog. His lack of education and general knowledge of the world around him is to make sure that if he ever manages a decent idea of escaping, the System has made sure that he knows he would not survive in the outside world because of his lack of knowledge and experience, therefore implementing the impossibility into any sort of escape. With Kagari, because of the four white walls that he lived inside for years, that being basically everything he’s ever known his entire life, it really brings the point home that he would contribute absolutely nothing to society if he were to escape. While he’s a hunting dog, the system can at least make him feel like he’s useful somehow, which is a messed up sort of indirect brainwashing considering all they’ve done to mess up his life and mental state thus far.
