遊泳して積極的に捕食行動をとることで知られるメススジゲンゴロウの幼虫。マルガタゲンゴロウの幼虫に体形が非常に似ている。

水中の基質中ではなく、開放的な水面で泳ぎ回るのもゲンゴロウ科の幼虫としては珍しい生態。
