We are a part of the creation ... placed here for a pre-determined period of time. During our stay here, before we came here, and after we leave here we are at the mercy of The One who created us. How, then, can we not acknowledge The Creator? Have we forgotten that we were given life, then will be shown the end of that life and finally the beginning of another? We are fragile vulnerable imperfect beings. Each of our bodies is a mere vessel temporarily carrying our soul. Indeed, we are in dire need of God and God does not need us.
