I don’t normally bother going out of my way to fulfill requests for rare bugs or fish, but for Katt, I figured I may as well. Also, I’ve caught enough of these beetles to have the gold bug-catching badge (which means catching five thousand insects), so this is basically nothing to me. Heck, I’m stealthy enough that I can literally put my face on a beetle if I want to. I’m a little worried that Katt doesn’t know what it means to “secretly” call someone something, though.

Fun fact: that post I just linked got a couple hundred notes after somebody reblogged it and added a snarky comment about how they come to my blog for the beetle-kissing action. I don’t mind, but it’s a little disappointing that people kept reblogging that and nobody noticed that I put captions on the pictures explaining how I pulled it off. That’s a big part of why I never put captions on pictures anymore! People don’t check for ‘em!

I never noticed this before, but this is the first way I've discovered to see the beetles from some other angle than dead on while they're on a tree. You just gotta zoom in and turn the camera while you're in the museum. You can't turn it all the way, though.

Turns out the beetles are floating slightly off of the trees. I'm disappointed! It's like when they showed the screenshots from Link Between Worlds that moved the camera and showed that Link is basically lying flat on his back when he faces south, just to make it look more like the SNES game.

If you walk slowly enough, you can literally rub up against the tree and kiss the beetles, and they don’t get scared off.

YOU GUYS. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Okay, so a while back, I got an anonymous tip explaining how to make around 300k every time you go to the island. Basically, you cut down all but four of your trees and make sure those are all in a line going across the island. So, it's set up as coconut/banana tree, fruit/oak tree, fruit/oak tree, coconut/banana tree. All you have to do is catch beetles (the expensive ones, not fruit beetles). If you didn't know this, now you do. Try it!

It is 30 years into the future. The goliath beetles have evolved to become 15 stories tall. Our mayors still don't think they look that big.

that feeling when you hear an unexpected noise from down the hall, when you're concentrating on sneaking up on a beetle on the island... 

i'll post more pics soon, guys, i promise. i've just been busy trying to create, from scratch, my costume for the local anime convention. I'm going to be echo from pandora hearts. <3 

in other news, i've paid off another loan, and found the alpine chair in one of my happy homes showcase streetpass houses. so tomorrow i'll have a full sized back room, and all the alpine furniture, meaning i can deck it out. yay! I'll be sure to take a pic of the final product for that as well. thinking of using a pretty pattern to cyrus all my alpine furniture first though....
