You would not believe your eyes. ( ´∀`)☆
Even though it was after 11 PM, the villagers were still up and at ‘em due to the Summer Solstice. I didn’t want to stay up any later than that to see how long they’d be awake, but it seemed like they planned on staying up all night. Reese and Cyrus, however, had no desire to work any unpaid overtime, and closed up shop right on schedule, and the night-time bugs came out to play as well.
This screenshot was in one of my folders, and there’s no context--the ones before and after are of me visiting Katt in her house. I don’t know why I took it. What was I thinking? Did I do it by accident?
Look, this really bothered me, and I wanted you to be bothered, too. You’re gonna carry this weight.
I gave Moe this firefly, and he replaced his free-standing shirt with it. Or him, I guess. It’s hard for me to tell if the firefly is male or female (I can’t check its abdomen like this site says to), and probably Moe is just guessing, anyway. But the firefly was flying around, so it’s probably male. Now it’s just sitting there.
Honestly, I was kind of surprised that it has a physical bug-shaped body. I thought it would just be a glowing ball of light. I am glad that I was wrong.
Not for the first time, I found myself catching many, many fireflies and wondering if I was breaking my record. Nope!! I sure didn’t.
Oh shoot! It’s June, so here are fireflies! Or lightning bugs, if you’re so inclined. Do people call them that? I haven’t really hard them called that anywhere other than my old memories.
I googled it and I guess it is still a name some people use. Also, fireflies are a type of beetle, which makes perfect sense in hindsight but which I did not know until just now.
Here’s a fun fact for you: Fireflies cast shadows! You can only see them when it’s light out, and it’s only light out for fireflies on the Summer Solstice! So, one day a year, you can see firefly shadows!
I couldn't remember if I had a firefly in Rika's house, and it turns out that I did. Unfortunately, during the day, its glow is not particularly impressive. Someday, I might remember to check on it at night, but let's not hold our breath.
