Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to make a diy bjd wig from merino fibres? I've seen people using alpaca fibres and merino seems very similar to them, but I haven't found any tutorials or information on existence of merino wigs. Thanks! ouo
I've never used Merino myself but I know it tends to be used for wool dreads since wool lends itself to felting but I'm not sure how suitable it would be for using as regular wig fibers. Merino comes from sheep and doing a little reading around alpaca fibers are finer, silkier but a lot stronger than sheeps wool which is probably why it lends itself more to wig making. I know some people have had nice results with soy fiber too if that helps.
You could always get some and give it a go but as I said, I haven't used it myself and I can't find anything relating to others using it for wig fibers so I can't say for sure one way or another if it would work I'm afraid :<
