Ocean sunfish event guide/tips
So AC:PC lauched a new fishing event today. The grand prize is 1 Apollo's Cinema Cookie and you can get multiple leaf tickets as well!
Since the event lasts for only 2 days, I decided to make a quick guide for newer or more casual players.
It took me about 2 hours to complete all the goals. In total I earned around 100,000 bells. The event fish itself is rare and worth 4,000, so if you sell all the ones you catch for the event you'll make 40,000 bells just from that.
You also catch lots of other really rare fish! You can save some of these for gifts later on, but it's still a big source for money.
But since it is time consuming, I'd recommend going for it when you're feeling bored or have time to spare.
General strategy:
If you have ocean nets, use them. You should catch the fish more easily by using them, I got 2 out of the 4 times I tried. Also helps save up time!
General strategy would be clearing the whole area of fish, rechecking that none have spawned, and then switching to instagram/tumblr and coming back after a minute or two. Alternatively you can also manage your inventory or check on your friends list during that time.
The whole beach should have fish ready to be caught once you come back. I've noticed that if you stay around in-game doing nothing they don't seem to spawn as fast.
Tips:
DO:
Catch all fish, even the common ones. This may seem annoying, but a lot of rare fish are average sized or small. Also the small amounts you earn from rare fish do add up over time.
Double check if you caught all the fish before switching to another app. They sometimes respawn a few seconds after you catch more, so it's always good to check!
Sell as much fish you need when it tells you that your inventory is full. I'd recommend keeping the common fish capped at 10 while doing the event. If any of the rare fish are worth more than 1,500 bells, sell them.
DON'T:
Leave the area itself. It may seem like a good way to kill time but in reality you're wasting it. By the time you are done loading into a new area, the fish have likely already respawned. You can use the time you spend at loading screens far more wisely.
Scare away the unwanted fish by reeling in early. All fish are valuable and will make you money one way or another.
It should also be mentioned for newer players, that you'll know when the real deal has spawned. Fish like olive flounders may seem big at first, but the ocean sunfish is about twice as large.
A comparison.
It may seem like a minor difference on screenshots, but it's actually very noticeable in-game. You'll recognize a chunky boy instantly.
That's all the tips I have! I hope this helped someone!

Cy’s ACPC Guide
There are currently 44 villagers to befriend; 40 came with the game upon release, 4 more have been added recently; more villagers will likely be added on a regular basis
Leveling up a villager’s friendship gives you a point towards your own level-up
With your BASIC amenity (the first tent you build in the tutorial), villagers can only reach friendship level 7
There are four Tier 1 amenities, one for each style; building the first level of each amenity will allow the villagers of that style to reach friendship level 10 (e.g. building the “cool” amenity will allow villagers with the “cool” style to reach level 10, but “cute,” “natural,” and “sporty” villagers will still only be able to reach level 7 until you build the “cute,” “natural,” and “sporty” amenities)
These friendship cap boosts are PERMANENT, which means you DO NOT need to keep the amenity on the campground in order to keep the cap boost - replace them as you like!
Similarly, you do not need to compromise your campsite’s aesthetic for new villagers - when you invite a new camper, select “auto-arrange” to automatically place the villager’s preferred furniture at the site; when they’re satisfied, you’ll be given the option to move everything back, which puts your camp back to the way it was. You do not need to keep any particular furniture in your campsite in order to keep or invite a villager back.
Leveling up a Tier 1 amenity past level 1 will not grant any more of a cap boost, but you MUST level up your Tier 1 amenity to level 3 in order to unlock that style’s Tier 2 amenity
Building the Tier 2 amenities raise the friendship cap to level 15; like the Tier 1 amenities, leveling the amenity past level 1 does not grant any more of a cap boost, but it must reach level 5 in order to unlock the Tier 3 amenity of that style
The Tier 3 amenities will raise the friendship cap to 20, which is currently the MAX cap
Since each villager can go from 0 to 20, each villager grants you a total of 20 level-up points; with 44 villagers, that’s 880 level-up points, which will get you to around level 65~66
Each level-up GUARANTEES you 10 Leaf Tickets - so you’re GUARANTEED 650 Leaf Tickets just from leveling up alone!
DON’T WASTE YOUR LEAF TICKETS.
DON’T WASTE YOUR LEAF TICKETS.
It bears repeating, because there’s NOTHING worth spending your Leaf Tickets on EXCEPT things you can ONLY get with Leaf Tickets (e.g. K.K. Slider’s chair, and Tom Nook’s chair); you can wait for the rest
ETA: Spend leaf tickets on the other two crafting spots, too, and depending on your play style, it might be worth it to spend them on inventory space (personally, I haven’t had a problem with this since leveling up enough to have some decent space, but it wouldn’t be a “waste” of Tickets to expand your bags)
Register a My Nintendo account!!!!
Just do it. Trust me. Go to More > My Nintendo; if tapping “create/link a Nintendo account” triggers an error, restart the app completely, and when you get back in, immediately go to More > My Nintendo again, and it should work properly (if you’ve already linked your Nintendo account, you shouldn’t be getting the “create/link” button at all if it’s working properly)
You know what this does? It gives you access to extra Stretch Goals every week, which get knocked out super quick, which grants you a steady income of My Nintendo Points, which can be traded for:
one (1) exclusive OK Motors Cap
one (1) exclusive OK Motors Jacket
one (1) package of 50 Leaf Tickets
and gold and materials as many times over as you like
yes this means you can just buy up Preserves and Paper as much as you need, when you need it, no Leaf Tickets required
BEFRIEND EVERYONE
Like, legit. You see a friend code? Add it. You see a visiting camper? Send them a friend request. Just add friends everywhere, all the time
Check your friends list at least once a day - if you see an orange icon on the corner, it means that person is looking for help with the Quarry; tap on them and HELP THEM OUT because you get gold for it
Go through your friends list every once in a while and unfriend anybody who hasn’t been on in a few days (they can’t help you and you can’t help them if they’re not on regularly, so give ‘em the boot to make room for people who DO play regularly)
Request Quarry help first thing after rollover (the “it’s a new day!” dialogue), and send requests to as many friends as you can; it does not intrude on others’ games, and it does not harm you to have more than 5 people helping you
Wait until something you NEED comes up for the quarry rewards - if not the event-exclusive material, then go for Essences, as it’s the only material available from the Quarry that you can’t get from My Nintendo Points, and isn’t guaranteed from any villager
I don’t know what happens if you have enough help but don’t use it before rollover... May as well just use it, since it’s free and you get Bells and Stuff either way
Always talk to your campers! The villagers in your campground give you things! (Sometimes)
Keep ONLY max-level campers in your camp - anybody who can still level up should be in the rotation for the four other areas, since it’s more effective for them (and you) to level up through Fetch Quests as opposed to the occasional point every few hours.
BEFORE YOU UNVEIL A NEW AMENITY (including the instant level-ups), trade out your maxed-out campers for your lowest-level campers available - four of them will get friendship points for free
BEFORE YOU INVITE A NEW CAMPER (as in, the initial “look how I catered my campgrounds to your tastes!” invite), make sure you’ve talked to all your current campers and have fulfilled any available requests from them; this is because when you add somebody new to your campground, the current campers’ point-gaining interactions reset, so you can talk to everyone again and fulfill requests again! Woohoo, more points!
When you fulfill villagers’ requests, the Bells they give you is dependent on the number and type of unique items they’ve asked for; for instance, if they ask for a pear, a peach, and an orange, all of which sell for 10 bells out of the bag, they’ll give you 300 bells, but if they ask for 3 peaches, they’ll only give you 100 bells
Following that, when they ask for “uncommons” (red snapper, black bass, and horned dynastid), which sell for 100 Bells out of the bag, they’ll give you 1,000 Bells!
Logically, if a villager asked for a higher-value item, such as a rainbow trout, you could get 15,000 bells... However, I’ve never had a villager ask me for anything higher than the 100-bell rares - it’s more cost-effective to just sell the high-price items right out of your bag (especially when you’re low on space)
Oh right: YOU CAN SELL ITEMS RIGHT OUT OF YOUR BAG
Go to Items, tap on the apple (the third icon on the top row), and tap on any item, and next to “list for sale” is a button with “sell” - boom. Instant money in your pocket.
You CANNOT, however, sell any clothes or furniture straight out of your bag - those you have to go to the Market Place and talk to somebody there to get rid of extra clothes/furniture
The MOST effective way to use your Market Box is to fill it with multiples of common items for cheap; trust me, nobody’s gonna buy your overpriced rares, and they’ll just sit in your Box and rot, mocking you.
I’ve had the best luck with packs of 3, since villagers tend to not ask for more than three of any one item
When throwing fruit in, prioritize the ones you have extra trees of (e.g. the fruits available in Lost Lure); if you empty your trees regularly, you’ll end up with a TON of these, which you can use to help out others who don’t have extras of those trees
IF you feel compelled to throw in a 100-bell rare, the default price is 1,000, so lower the price if you only put one in (which you should only put one in) - other players are even less likely to buy something they’ll wash even on, Bells-wise, so you have to make it worth their while
Lastly, the best way to keep track of stuff you need to build? Favorites.
If you hit the “favorite” star on the order screen, the item will be saved to your “favorites” tab (the star on the far left)
Favorite the items you NEED to craft, and when you go to craft them, hit the “favorite” star again to unfavorite - this will remove the item from your favorites tab, which should (theoretically) keep you from accidentally crafting something twice when you don’t need to
I think that’s about all the tips I have. Amenities, My Nintendo, smart camper rotation, selling/market box, and furniture.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp - A Tip Guide!
Would YOU like to learn some of the wisdom I have gleaned as a slightly obsessed Lv. 58 Pocket Camper??? THEN READ ON:
STOP. PUTTING. YOUR SUPER RARE ITEMS. IN MARKET BOX!!!! This literally gains you NOTHING (except in exceptionally rare occasions when people buy them THINKING they need one. I did that once. I was a fool).
SERIOUSLY. Everyone under the sun is selling their rare items for exorbitant prices, but here is the thing: NONE OF THE ANIMALS WANT THEM. They are not gift items. They are “HERE GOOD PLAYER HAVE SOME MONEY” items. So PLEASE stop wasting your money by putting it in Market Box where you can’t get it back, it’s making me sad for all of you. THE TUNA IS WORTH 5,000 BELLS WHY ARE YOU THROWING THAT AWAY
Semi-rare items like Green Bass and Horned Dynastids are still salable. But seriously, don’t stock your whole Market Box with them.
Same goes for super common items, i.e. Shells, Coconuts, and Olive Flounder. Occasionally, yes, people will need these. But you are much more likely to make some bank if you take one or three surplus semi-common items (like oranges and butterflies, EVERYONE LOVES THOSE) in your box when you hit your item limit. At the very least, it balances out your own spending when you need to pick stuff up.
BTW I am like 80% more likely to add you as a Friend if you stock your Market Box intelligently. It shows you understand the game and would be helpful to have around. This might not matter to everyone but I consider it a mark of my esteem for you.
Okay, that’s enough ranting about the Market Box. Let’s move on to other things:
You can trade the flowers you pick during Special Gardening Events for extra items under the Event tab in your Garden. I did NOT know this at first and now I have a bunch of Dahlias left over that are wasted. Items include everything from the common building materials to the invaluable Amenities Potions (I don’t know what else to call these).
You can also get additional rarer seeds (which get you better items) by sharing your butterflies/bats/ladybugs/??? at Friends’ gardens.
YOUR CAMPER HAS A SECOND FLOOR (I didn’t realize people didn’t know this). You can enlarge this along with your bottom floor at the Garage. It also makes you look extra cool if you take the time to decorate up there (at least in my opinion).
If you look closely at the shadows of the fish, you can tell which ones you are going to get. Ex: at the River Campsite, the teeny-tiny shadows are Pale Chubs, the medium ones are Crucian Carp, the bigger ones are Yellow Perch, and the REALLY big ones are your rarer Green Bass, River Trout, and Koi. Harder to tell the rare fish in the sea area apart, though.
The higher level the animals at your Campsite are, the better presents they will give you. I’ve gotten single gifts of 2500 Bells and as many as SIX Amenity Potions in one gift! So if you need Amenities of a certain type, stock your campground with the matching animals and level them up!
If you’re inviting an animal to your Campsite and you do the Auto-Arrange for their furniture, it will give you the option to undo all that and go back to how your furniture was before. Just make sure you have a good connection; my internet glitched in the middle of this one time and saved over my nicely organized campsite with a couple of chairs and a sofa.
If you have a bunch of animals ready to be invited to your campsite, don’t do it JUST yet. It doesn’t really help you, and if a new Amenity rolls out - like the Rustic and Hip amenities - there will be a 24-hour period where you can get extra Amenity Potions by inviting up to 4 new animals to your campground.
You can sell your building materials. I put this in bold because I DID NOT KNOW you could sell your steel, wood, cotton, paper, etc. until I had been COMPLETELY maxed out on steel and wood for several weeks. Not only did I waste resources that couldn’t go into my account, but I was also putting up with a SUPER annoying ‘you don’t have room’ message every time I got more. Lo and behold, you can sell them in mass quantities, which also had the bonus of netting me about 80,000 bells. You can ALSO sell old Event items like Snowflakes and Candy Canes. So go clean out your proverbial closet and get some moolah!
Last tip of the day, and it’s the shakiest... no pun intended. I have twice now managed to shake a bag of 500 bells out of one of the palm trees on the Island. I believe it’s a once-per-day thing, but you have to shake all the non-fertilizable trees to find it. Can be a little tricky, but hey, extra cash!
That’s all for now, folks! Happy camping, and PLEASE CLEAN OUT YOUR MARKET BOXES
~River
Dont forget to link and check your my nintendo. You will finish the weekly mission before you know it, and its a great source of extra materials!
Not sure if people knew this, but in Pocket Camp you can shake the empty palm trees and sometimes it will give you bells!
I DISCOVERED YOU CAN SELL YOUR CANDY CANES FOR CASH!!
