see fromsoft has a lot of endings where it's like "you can usually go WITH the cycle or against it (but not solve it). but what if there was a THIRD option-- the Unknown?" and that's basically what Alea Iacta Est as an ending is. and i think my big hangup with it is really in that i was just not propelled TOWARD that unknown, unlike say DS3's end of fire or ER's age of stars
ac6's other routes make you kill the people dearest to you in order to reach each ending. almost nobody in the main cast survives both routes. and i remember in AIE, where it dropped the ball for me there was when i had to kill both walter AND carla in the same mission, IIRC. and i was like... well i don't really want to do this at all lol
the other routes, i was at least about to hold some conviction. i was able to believe in the will of either side i was going with. AIE, though-- i did NOT trust allmind's mission LMAO. and while i see the potential merits in The Unknown as an option, that route just did not propel me with the same conviction, or compel me emotionally as well as the other two did
at least when it came to the goals and the consequences. iguazu fight was still badass as fuckkkkkkk
