The few days I'm in San Diego and the entire time it has been incredibly windy, pouring down rain, or both. wtf.

ACPSF: Richard Koci Hernandez
February 28, 2013 - ACP San Francisco, California
Hernandez inspired all photographers and aspiring photojournalists in the room today, as he stated the importance of giving ourselves weekly assignments, goals to reach in order to make progress fast and efficiently.
Using The Beatles and Star Wars as examples of longevity, Hernandez was able to relate to his audience, and encourage the students to pursue their passion actively.
"Find inspiration in the arts", he said. "We cannot face the future looking in the rearview mirror".
As he spoke, the key to being successful - or at least to being determined to get there - did not seem so out of reach anymore.
Some piece of advice he gave us all was to find our area of interest and become an expert at it. Whether it is photography, video or writing, one should master his favorite art, and be familiar with the basics of the other two. Also, videographers should have some knowledge of photography. After all, videos first started out as series of collated pictures.
Hernandez also took the time to talk individually with students after his speech.
More information about the panels will be posted tomorrow!

ACPSF: Day 1
February 28, 2013 - Associated Collegiate Press Conference in San Francisco, CA.
This first day in San Francisco started with a little walk around town and some frozen yogurt as the Daily Targum editors waited for the first keynote speaker presentation.
At 4pm, everybody sat down at the Westin to listen to Richard Koci Hernandez, an Emmy Award-winning visual journalist and member of faculty at the University of California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
Read our next blog post for information about Hernandez' speech and pictures of his presentation!
