It's Time to Win

Today was the day. The first competition of the year, and everyone was getting ready. Artemis could see Ollie talking to the opposing coach, who stood stiffly next to Ollie as the blonde laughed about something. He must be fun during practices, Artemis thought. Her teammates were all getting ready as well, getting their equipment ready, everyone looking at least a little nervous. She couldn't help but feel nervous herself because it was her first time actually competing. What if she messed up in front of everyone? Would they laugh at her, or just be disappointed? Would Ollie not want her on the team anymore? 

Trying to shake those thoughts from her head, she walked over to Roy and Cissie, who were setting all of their equipment down by the team's bench. "You guys ready for this?" she asked as she set her stuff down by theirs.

Dangerous Blondes

Tim leaned against the bench in the garden, absently fiddling with his phone. This wasn't a place he ended up much - sure, he'd used it for photography material a few times, but he preferred architectural shots, and artistic shots of unsuspecting attractive people. 

He didn't really know what to expect. Cassie was going to 'introduce him' to a friend? The way she'd said it sounded too much like setting him up for his own comfort. He didn't want the same kind of casual flirting that she seemed to enjoy; he could get that at any Wayne charity gala - hell, it often happened whether he wanted it or not, and the allure had definitely worn off.

Still, he liked Cassie, and she'd said the girl was going to be on the team. He could handle meeting a teammate. Friendly-style. No big deal. Right?

...these blondes were going to eat him alive.

A New Addition to the Team

Artemis inhaled as she raised her bow. Concentrating on the target, she released, trying to adjust to the wind like Roy had shown her. She was satisfied when the arrow made a 'thud' relatively close to the spot she wanted it to. Not perfect, but it meant she was getting better at adjusting to the outside elements. With a slight smile, she grabbed another arrow out of her quiver. 

Target practice always made the blonde relax for some reason. It made her focus, providing a perfect distraction from everything else in her life. And since coming to the academy, she had been able to do it on her own terms instead of being ordered to train, something that made it even more enjoyable. After releasing her second arrow, she noticed something- or someone rather- who she hadn't seen before. Turning, she saw a blonde girl holding her own bow and quiver watching Artemis. Perplexed, she asked, "Um, who are you?" It might have come out rude, but Artemis had never seen this girl before in her life.
