I wrote this to help out tumblr user queergravity who’s struggling to find a job, but feel free to read it and see if this helps you out!!!
First things first, don’t stress too much. Nearly everyone who has a job has gone through the struggle of actually getting the job first. I totally get what you’re going through. And I’ll help you out with as much knowledge as I can. First of all, try and find out if you have any connections to get a job. Maybe a family member or friend has a job and can help you obtain a job in the same area/field? My first real job was working for my uncle at his furniture warehouse. I did almost anything, from making catalogs for his furniture sales, to cleaning his officespace, to even babysitting his newborn. I was paid under the table, but it was still a nice source of income.
When finding a job, I find it a lot easier to actually go ask for available positions face-to-face rather than just looking it up and applying online. Not all stores/food places post available positions online, plus you can ask about what positions are available and any necessary requirements (its best to ask to speak to a manager and ask them for any available positions, but if you don’t want to do that, you can always just talk to an associate). A quick tip is if you’re applying for a job at a mall/shopping center, the information desk USUALLY has a binder filled with open positions within the mall and its stores, along with a little info about it. Just ask if they have available job listings for the mall, and they should provide you one.
If you go to college or even community college ((I’m on mobile so I cant really check I’m sorry)) you can go to their Workforce Center and see if they have any available positions as well! The Workforce Center not only provides positions on campus, but also in the surrounding area! The only worry with getting a job through the school (like at the bookstore) is that you only get paid once a month. I currently got a second job at my school’s bookstore, but I’m only working for the first 2-3 weeks of the scool year for the school rush (which goes from late August to early September), and I don’t get paid until early October. So be wary of that.
