Rule#4: tell them you tagged them.
Rule#5: tell whoever tagged you that you answered the questions.
On a personal note I won't hold it against anyone if I tag you and you don't respond. I was just honestly flattered that someone specifically thought to tag me in one of these. In fact I think this is my first one. Due to this, I'm going to put particular effort into these answers so I hope flying-frappuccino finds it informative! Onwards!
1. Favorite quote from a fictional character?
*hyperventilating* First of all, how dare you. So many good ones, where do I even start. I could talk about the Legacy of Kain series, for starters. The writing and dialogue in that game franchise was what inspired me to write in the first place. I could also get into fantastic one-liners from all manner of classic action flicks such as Aliens, Predator, or Terminator. But perhaps the one line that speaks to me the most came from Pippin in The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Upon donning a suit of armor after swearing fealty to the Steward of Gondor, a conversation takes place between him and Feramir regarding the fit of such a small suit of chainmail, and Pippin mentions quite simply "I'm not likely to grow anymore, except sideways." It's like a pensive into my 5' 5" soul.
2. Favorite character and why?
*heavy breathing* Not this shit again. I suffer from an unhealthy attachment to far too many franchises which feature far too many characters. My most recent love has been Skullgirls, a fighting game developed by Lab Zero and featuring artwork and storytelling from the singular Alex Ahad. Even looking at the character animations alone, one can tell that each character is positively dripping with personality. Delving into wikis and forums, one finds that each character sports an extensive background, and each has her own reason for searching for the Skullheart. None of them come close to being considered "throwaway" characters. Alas, of these, I can choose no favorite (though on a side note I reblog an unhealthy amount of Squigly so she's a fair candidate).
But if I were to choose the one character that had the largest impact on my life overall, I would have to refer back to the Legacy of Kain series. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was the first game I ever played that had an overtly dark tone, and featured the first character I fell in love with that didn't act out of altruism or nobility. This was a character who was royally fucked over by someone whom he had served faithfully and without question for over a thousand years only to be tossed into a swirling vortex called the Abyss to burn for the rest of his vampiric eternity. I refer, of course, to Raziel. I think I was about twelve or thirteen when I first played that game, and Raziel was the first character who didn't give a shit about the world around him. He had been done wrong, and he was pissed. I had never considered a protagonist could be so dark. After all, vengeance was something a villain would seek, not the hero. But Raziel was no hero. He was a burned up shell of a corpse, reanimated by an all-powerful Elder God, and dead set on killing every single one of his own brothers before killing Kain himself, his former master. Raziel opened my eyes to what a protagonist could be after they are broken: do they pick up the pieces, become something stronger than the original? Or do they collapse completely under the weight of their own ruin, and become blinded by their indignation? (Boy that was a long answer).
3. What mood are you typically in?
Not much to say here. Most of the time I exist in blithe ennui or mild amusement, although at work I'm a raging firestorm of frustrated sass and sarcasm. I should probably change that... but I probably won't.
NO. I REFUSE TO PICK. AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME. ALL OF YOU MUTUALS KICK ASS, ILY.
5. Describe my blog in seven or less words?
Full of Kill la Kill and feminism.
6. Have you played “Never Have I Ever”?
Not that game specifically but I played a game with the same basic principle. A bunch of high school friends and I were in a Sonic drive through and decided to play this game where we ask each other outrageous questions, and we either answered truthfully or ordered and ate an entire banana from their menu. For the record, I ate no bananas. I'm an honest motherfucker.
7. Which of the Seven sins of Purgatory fits you?
8. Best mythical creature, and what you’d do with it?
Sorry. It's dragons. Always been dragons. Will always be dragons. I'd fly them to work to intimidate everyone into doing their fucking jobs because otherwise I seem to be the only one there capable of it.
9. Longest story you’ve read?
To my mild dismay I don't actually enjoy reading. I blame Scholastics. At any rate, the longest overarching story I've ever read was probably Harry Potter. But longest single book that I think I've ever read was also my personal favorite: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. So fucking GEWD.
10. Favorite person you know?
YOU STOP THAT. I absolutely adore my immediate family across the board. Outside of that, I have two people I converse with the most and I adore them both to fucking death and I refuse to choose between the two.
11. Numbers or Roman numerals?
Who in the moldy molasses of Madagascar goes through life thinking "Boy I'm so sick of these fucking convenient Arabic numerals, with their clearly defined 10s, 100s, 1000s places and so on, their ease of use in calculations, and their immediate readability. I want to live my life doing math in fucking ROMAN NUMERALS SON. I want to multiply "IV * XIV" and get fucking "CLXXVI." THAT'S THE STUFF." *cough*... Arabic numerals.
1. Video game you felt the most accomplished after beating?
2. Hardest thing you've ever had to do in life (if you're willing to share. If not, share what you wish).
3. You now have access to three people, real or fictional, for one night. Three people from any time period, any location, any franchise. You're all invited to a sleepover! Who do you bring?
4. You have been given the budget and talented team to write and make any one of the following: feature length film, AAA video game, two volumes of a comic or manga, or one season of a television series. Which do you create? For bonus points (no, no one's keeping score) describe your ultimate commercial creation!
5. Remember that sleepover from two questions ago? 'Course you remember, you were there! What were the first three things you did together?
6. Describe the perfect dinner to cap off a splendid birthday bash celebrating your glorious existence!
7. Have you ever done/dreamed of doing any high-octane stunts, such as sky-diving, paragliding, or the like?
8. Uh-oh, we're getting a little darker now. You've been cursed by a powerful sorcerer, and you are now destined to die much sooner than you should have. However, the sorcerer is not 100% a dick, and has given you the choice of your doom. What spectacular farewell do you give to this now soon-to-be-bleaker world?
9. You're a motherfucking ANIMORPH, SON. What animal do you transform into, you angsty teen badass?
10. To the best of your knowledge, what is your alignment? (Neutral Evil, Lawful Good, etc.)
11. It's the last one, so let's get a little personal. You have one sentence to write to anyone in the world, living or passed away. Without specifying who the recipient is, what do you say to them in that one sentence?
