I curated this 12+ hour marathon @symphonyspace in 2001 - it was was one of the favorite projects I've ever worked on. @WBGO's @checkoutjazz Josh Jackson recorded it, and much of it ended up on JazzSet nationally. Really proud that Symphony Space has chosen it to launch their mobile app and that all these sets can be revisited. If you are withdrawing from #2012WJF Winter JazzFest, this may be just the fix you need.
The musicians on that stage are even more impressive 10 years later....
Symphony Space's annual gift to the City of New York honors the musical contributions of American jazz giant Miles Davis. Featuring an all-star cast of hundreds of instrumentalists and vocalists, Wall to Wall Miles Davis touches on every aspect of Davis' stunning career --from his early days as a bopper through his birth of the cool and modal jazz innovations, from his heart-wrenching ballads to his radical fusion experiments.
