Common misconceptions about the demigirl/demiwoman identity :
-"You need to be AFAB to be a demigirl"
=> NO, no and NO, you can be a demigirl NO MATTER WHAT YOU WERE ASSIGNED AT BIRTH. Calling it an "afab-exclusive" identity is both transphobic/transmisogynistic and false, do not do that.
- "It’s half-girl-half-nonbinary"
=> Not necessarily! It can be true for some demigirls but not all of them. It isn't a requirement nor the definition. (Because I've seen people define it that way. Not quite)
- "Demigirls are she/they"
=> No. It is a common set of pronouns among demigirls but it isn't exclusive to them nor is it required to be one. You can use any pronouns you like and still be a demigirl (or any gender identity for that matter)
-"Demigirl is part girl part agender"
=> While true for a lot of demigirls, the demigirl identity basically just means "Only partially a girl/woman", the other identities or lack of thereof depends on the person. It can be agender but also any other gender identities (yes, even more masc or fluid ones)
Here you go, I hope I've helped clearing up some common mistakes about this identity. Now you're all set to be the best ally to ALL demigirls for this pride month. :D
If you have any other ones you want to share or things to add, don't hesitate!
