a series based on this. there will be a few parts, adding up to make a complete order of events. lots and lots of love and hugs to my baes @starrprincess and @wivesosluke for the love and help and friendship 💕

morning 

“I think she’s going to love it-” Luke murmurs from the living room as he sips his coffee, leaning fully back into the warm embrace of his large comforter chair. A tiny yellow sticker adorned the arm of the seat and he smiled through fluttered, almost closed lashes that his little girl had been once again “inspecting” the house and offering her approval in the form of a small bright star stuck masterfully on each object of her choosing.

“Them. Not it...” you reply equally softly, matching the tone of his voice and aura as you both sit cuddled into the large chair, watching the Christmas tree ornaments glisten beside the multi-coloured hue which the lights acted as counterpart to the festive and homely feel of the place.

“Yes, them.” he smiles before sipping again at his hot beverage and gulping back the liquid with a warm hearted feeling. “She won’t care. We’ll have to teach her how to vacuum though. After today things will be messy. In heart and home. A puppy is no easy feat.” 

“Luke, she’s four, she can barely tie her own shoes! But yeah, she’s gonna love them, we chose him out specially for her. And she loves cuddles; it’s a dream come true for our baby princess.”

Luke gestures to his dark jeans covered in a light brown hair, a golden tint to it which reflected his and your hope for the situation which would occur in a matter of minutes. The small pup had clearly enjoyed luke’s company before settling in the garage where Daisy would soon enough find him.

Your husband glances at the clock.

“I’m just saying, starting in 5 minutes, this house will never sound the same or probably look the same again...your call though.” Luke raises his hands mockingly handing over control, grinning to himself, as you both know fine and well that 4 year old Daisy, currently sleeping upstairs, would barely be able to handle the events of the day, let alone the prospect of holding an entire hoover by herself.

“In a good way though, right? We’re going from a family of 3, to 4 today. Are we actually growing up? Because sometimes I don’t want to....”

Resting your head into the crook of Luke’s neck you sigh, just wishing you could stop time for a moment, even if the best ones were still to come.

“Four? You mean 5 honey. Us two, Lazy Daisy upstairs, the little rascal of a pup we got her for today, and...her other big surprise. This one.”

With a soft poke to your stomach, you feel your insides spin. Telling people - your toddler of all people? - today, meant that your second little one would no longer be a secret between the two of you, something you and Luke had shared so closely and privately...

“You’re not nervous to tell her right? It’s Daisy honey! She’ll be so excited about them. And if not, we’ll get her excited! Puppy will help ease her in to it all.” 

His efforts to make you smile eventually do work, as he draws tiny patterns on your stomach and lets his big head nuzzle you back. His coffee is long gone, stained only into the bottom of the mug he holds in a haphazard grip. His lips smell the same, as he presses his to yours, and as the little chimes ring true upstairs, and awake your current only child, you think that maybe this Christmas morning, where 3 become 5, may not be so hectic in your heart after all.
