Don’t talk to my sister because she’ll tell you I’m too young to know anything about boy bands. But what does she know? She thought I was straight well into college. Kill it, PL. 🖤
Subtle? I don’t know her. Be ready to hear us sing the songs that you chose! Some are sweet, some are silly, all are amazing; after all, it’s the #warblettes singing them! 📷 @itsstaceyevans #botb #redandblue
Throughout the entire Warblette setlist, Ellie was front and center. Battle of the Bands had turned into one of her most prized monthly events, so it was no surprise that she was indulging fully on the set taking place. While it was a competition to its core, it was hard for Ellie to get incredibly cutthroat considering the fact that her roommate and best friend were part of the opposing group. Regardless, drink in hand and straw to mouth, she was enjoying the sounds of the Warblette’s voices filling the air. Ellie allowed herself enough time to step away once the set was coming to an end, walking over to the bar to grab an additional drink for a particular person that had just performed. She made her way back to the stage, standing off to the side as the group made their closing remarks. Ellie cheered loudly along with the crowd before turning her attention to the exiting singers. “Good job,” Ellie stated with a nod towards the musicians before she was zeroing in on Blair Anderson. “Hey you,” she said with a smile as she lifted the drink in between their bodies. “A little celebratory drink for giving Sara B a run for her money tonight.” Her smile stretched from ear to ear as she relinquished the drink to the girl before her.
BLAIR
There was nothing like the rush of performing, and even though Blair was in a blazer and plaid skirt getup onstage, she felt as badass as any of the girls clad in leather and then some. It had been nothing short of a complete rush to do what she loved in any capacity. Part of Blair would have been lying if she'd said she wasn't trying to show off for the return of a certain member of Pamela Lansbury. There was history with Ellie, most of it good, some of it heartbreaking. Blair was ready to start fresh, but was relieved to see that some things never really changed. She adjusted her black leather top and grinned, taking a sip of the drink right out of Ellie's hand before snatching the cocktail for herself. "Cheers," Blair toasted, as she took another sip. "To tradition, and your triumphant return."
ELLIE
Ellie’s eyes fixated on Blair as she took a drink from the glass, shaking her head as a wide smile spread across her lips. There was something heavily intoxicating about spending time with Blair. While they had always been close, Ellie was making sure that things continued going well between them. The year previous had been filled with twists and turns, some worse than the ones before. But not this year. Ellie was refreshed, relaxed, and determined to make this a year all about what she wanted. “A battle is just the steamy event needed to warm us all up with the weather outside,” she commented before she was taking a drink from her previously raised for a toast glass. “Plus the booze truly does help.” Her eyes landed on Blair from behind the brim of the glass, nodding slightly. “I really did miss you, Bee. New Zealand is fun, but it’s no paradise with Blair Anderson.”
BLAIR
"It has been brutally cold," Blair agreed, as she followed Ellie onto the dance floor away from the maddening crowd. There wasn't much else to capture her attention aside from announcing the battle winner. "It's too bad you didn't come on that cruise with me," Blair began, and she knew she was treading on cautious ground, "because then it could have been paradise every day for you." With a slight grin, mischievous in nature, Blair continued on, hoping that all was forgiven. "I fully expect pictures. And a souvenir."
ELLIE
“Oh, I don’t think I could have survived all that time on the cruise,” she started as she took a hearty gulp of her drink. Once the alcohol was free from her mouth, she raised her glass slightly towards Blair as she finished her statement, “there’s only so much heaven on earth a person should be awarded.” Ellie knew that she was laying things on heavy with Blair, but she couldn’t help herself. There had been a weird air between the two of them for far too many months. Now with the realm of singlehood upon them, it was hard not to act solely based on what she wanted. And for now? That was Blair’s attention on her. And only her. “I need a refill but after... you busy? Any fans to chat up? Any hearts to break? Anyone else you want to dance with?” Ellie spoke evenly as she raised an eyebrow in Blair’s direction, not even waiting as she turned to go get a drink.
BLAIR
It was so hard to not let her heart flutter madly as Ellie complimented her. There were so many things that were left unsaid between them for many months, and even though Blair didn't mind that in the slightest, she had to admit that she was a major fan of this sudden burst of honesty between them. "I don't know about that," Blair bit down on her lower lip. "But I do know that you should at the very least give yourself the chance to find out." As Ellie spoke, Blair shook her head. "Well, I should greet my public... Unless you can think of something better for me to do?"
ELLIE
“Don’t move then! We’re dancing together,” Ellie said, speaking loudly as she walked away so that Blair could hear her request. She walked to the bar, ordering another drink for herself and a drink that the two could share once they were running on a liquid empty. She smiled to herself as she found her way back to Blair. “I hope you succeeded everything you needed to for the night,” Ellie explained as she took it upon herself to pour some of the drink in Blair’s glass, topping her off. “You’re mine now, yeah?” Ellie bit down on her lower lip as she shrugged her shoulders, hoping that was more than fine with the shorter girl.
BLAIR
It was as if Blair had sprouted roots. Nothing could budge her from that spot, and she wouldn't have wanted to move anyway. If Ellie wanted to dance with her, there was nothing else that Blair wanted to do herself. "Yeah," Blair agreed with a nod, as she swallowed somewhat nervously. "All yours." Blair downed more of her newly refilled drink and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. Suddenly, she very confidently grabbed Ellie's hand and led her onto the dance floor. "Time for you to put your money where your mouth is, Captain."
ELLIE
Ellie smirked to herself as Blair was guiding her towards the dance floor, feeling the alcohol kicking in. While nothing could falter her confidence, she had to admit the alcohol was placing some further liquid courage within her body. “Can do, Anderson,” Ellie leaned closer to whisper such words in her ear. With her free hand, she grabbed Blair’s before twirling her around once with a slight laugh to get things started. Then, Ellie allowed the beat of the music to take over, sliding her hand down to rest comfortably on Blair’s waist. She wasn’t anywhere near being provocative with her, but she couldn’t deny the rush that was hitting her.
BLAIR
God. It was so hard for Blair to not completely lose her nerve as Ellie grabbed her hand and twirled her. It was still hard for Blair to believe that out of all the ladies there, Blair was Ellie’s choice for the evening. Blair’s teeth sunk into her lower lip as she carefully let the beat of the music begin to move and sway her. Her arms snaked up to try and touch whatever part of Ellie she could reach. “You were electric up there,” Blair began, hoping Ellie could hear her amidst the bass-pounding music.
ELLIE
Ellie glanced down between their bodies and watched the way their bodies moved effortlessly. It felt nice to finally be able to show her appreciation for Blair while in public. Before, there were always lingering eyes from ex girlfriends or disapproving people. But now Ellie just couldn’t find it within herself to care. “Oh, don’t even,” Ellie started as she took a drink from her glass, sliding closer to Blair. “You were just... I’ve missed seeing you on the stage, Bee.” She said with an honest smile as she tilted her head in thought. She genuinely couldn’t remember a time she felt so at ease in the past couple of months.
BLAIR
In a way, Blair missed seeing her true self onstage, too. The past year had felt like she was going through the motions of everything rather than actually living. But with nothing left to hold her back and a huge audition on the horizon, Blair had left everything on the stage. “Thanks, Len,” Blair half-whispered, with a smile on her lips. “I can always rely on you for an honest rating of my performance.” She reached for Ellie’s hand and twirled herself under, grinning. “Unless of course, you’re worried that I’ll blow Pamela Lansbury off the stage.”
ELLIE
“There’s a level of seriousness with relaying honest opinions with performances,” Ellie explained as she watched Blair twirl herself, smiling in the process. She tilted her head to the side before she laughed to herself. She had fun with her. How was anyone going to fault her for that? “Besides,” Ellie started, grabbing Blair’s hand as she twirled her once more, making her body land in a different position. She grinned to herself, feeling Blair’s back leaning against the front of her body. “I think we both know how stiff the competition is between Pamela and the Warblettes. That’s what makes it so fun.” Ellie moved her hands to rest lightly against Blair’s waist as she leaned closer. “But you were really good tonight. Magic, really. I mean that.”
BLAIR
Blair felt her breath hitch in her throat as Ellie spun her around. She immediately relaxed into the other girl’s touch, closing her eyes as she let the beat of the music be what guided her movements. How long had she dreamed of just this? She wanted to ignore the way she and Ellie fit perfectly together, but she couldn’t. “I’m always magic,” was the slightly lackluster reply Blair shot back, even though they both knew that wasn’t the case. She’d been off her game for too long. “Thank you, by the way. You’re my top critic.” Blair covered Ellie’s hands with her own, making it clear that she didn’t want the other girl to go anywhere. “You were incredible too, of course, but you never need me to tell you that.”
ELLIE
Ellie glances down at their hands on Blair’s waist, smiling to herself as she began swaying and dancing along to the pumping music in the room. “I don’t need you to, but it’s always a good thing to hear from my top critic.” She smiles wider before she was dipping her neck down, making it to where their height difference could be smaller. Her lips ghosted near Blair’s ear as she whispered softly, “You know, I’m thinking I’m the luckiest person here to be dancing with you right now. I must have hit the jackpot to be dancing with the darling Warblettes star,” she laughed softly as she finished her words. Ellie laced their fingers together on Blair’s waist, the new placement allowing her hands to grip her hips.
BLAIR
It's not like Blair had thought about what it would be like to stand on her tiptoes to kiss Ellie, or how Ellie would have to lean over to whisper into her ear. God. She was so close. All Blair would have to do was tilt her head properly to the side and let Ellie do as she pleased. It wasn't like Blair could hold any semblance of self-control when the other girl was involved. "I could critique you more," Blair managed to gasp out, pressing herself against Ellie's body, wishing that their clothes would just magically disappear. "If you're going to flirt with one person in the audience for your entire set, the rest of the battle crew is going to get jealous." Blair observed, smirking as she hoped Ellie realized she was talking about herself. "And if we didn't know any better, one might think you were biased toward a certain member of the opposition."
ELLIE
“I am completely biased about a member of the opposing group,” Ellie whispered once more before she was looking up, gauging if there were any glances from their surrounding individuals. She didn’t really mind, however, it was always important for Ellie to know what brand of drama could be coming her way. She knew that anything she did with Blair would be plastered back at her from a multitude of people. If it had been a handful of months ago, she would have cared. Now, she was doing what she wanted and nothing less. “I think I’m making it pretty clear where my bias lies nowadays. It’s all for you, Blair Anderson.” Ellie smiled to herself as she leaned down further, resting her forehead against Blair’s shoulder. To be fair, she wanted nothing more than to elevate the moment. She just was not sure if the moment was right. “C’mere,” she whispered against her jacket, her hands gripping Blair’s hips as she turned the girl around. Her eyes locked with Blair’s immediately as she stepped closer, wrapping an arm around her waist. “I don’t think I told you enough how good you look tonight.”
BLAIR
It's all for you, Blair Anderson. God. Blair wanted to die just thinking about those words, thinking about how long she'd waited and begged and pleaded and bargained for Ellie to want her as more than a friend. And sure, friends could dance at Battle of the Bands. But friends didn't hold electricity between them like Blair and Ellie did. They didn't have that kind of gravity. As Ellie turned her back around, Blair pushed forward, resting her head on the crook of Ellie's shoulder, her lips ghosting Ellie's neck. "I think you've made it more than obvious that you approve of my Pamela-inspired outfit."
ELLIE
A smile covered Ellie’s lips at both the words escaping Blair’s mouth and the feeling of her lips just barely caressing her skin. This was what paradise had to feel like. It had been a long time coming that the pair acted the way they had deeply wanted to for some time now. Moreso, Ellie. “I have to make sure it’s crystal clear to you. Can’t fault a girl for such,” Ellie cooed out as she craned her neck to look down at Blair with heavy lidded eyes. Quite frankly, the liquor raging her system was starting to make her inhibitions be less and less. Ellie raised her free hand as she slid her thumb across Blair’s jawline with a far away grin. She couldn’t help herself from wanting to jump off the edge and just go for it with Blair. Before she could, a voice rang through. Gilbert, come do a shot with me! Ellie turned her head to see the familiar face of her roommate, Mercedes. Ellie knew the girl’s intentions were to stop the liquored up girl from making a mistake in public, so there was a hint of appreciation. However, she couldn’t deny a sense of disappointment in the moment. “Gotta go. Text me later?” Ellie asked with a smirk as she instead settled for a chaste kiss against the girl’s cheek while Mercedes was yanking her arm in the opposite direction.
BLAIR
"Lord knows I've waited," Blair whispered, her skin starting to tingle at the feel of Ellie's skin on her own, even in a touch so gentle. She'd never hated anyone more in that moment than she did Mercedes, as innocent as the suggestion was. "If you're lucky," Blair shot back with a smirk on her lips, as she fought the disappointment in her eyes. If Ellie had wanted to leave her wanting more, it was beyond obvious that it was working. Instead, she felt her soul ignite on fire as Ellie's lips touched her cheek, and Blair stood there for a good two minutes covering the spot that Ellie had kissed, until Tina dragged her away and demanded to know exactly what had happened between them. "Nothing," was Blair's determined reply. "Yet."
