Pizza Hut Cheeseburger Crust Review
We have all seen and experienced first hand fast food post purchase dissonance. I am talking about the moment when the Big Mac you just received is not that big and seems to more closely resemble the private parts of a 90 year old pornstar rather than the photo on the menu board. In this review we put Pizza Hut’s new crazy crust under the cutter to see if expectations meet reality.
This review was conducted under the following optimal pizza eating conditions.
Drinking copious amounts of alcohol the night prior.
Being too lazy to leave the couch and go and get some real food.
Eaten without any proper dinnerware or cutlery.
Seasoned with tabasco sauce.
As you can imagine expectations for this pizza were sky high. The advertising was fantastic and the previously released hotdog crust was a pretty good effort.
Overall the pizza impresses from a visual standpoint and has quite the impact upon opening the box. Sure it doesn’t look as good as the photo but overall is still pretty nice. Ours was missing a few ingredients which was a bit dissapointing.
There is quite a dilemma when deciding how to eat this pizza. Do you eat the pizza in a regular way and start at the pointy end? Perhaps you’d prefer to dive straight in and try the crust first?
I chose to eat in a conventional fashion eating towards the crust with the crust being the climax of the slice. Overall the centre tastes exactly like a regular pizza so nothing to report here. When you finally get to the cheeseburger finale, things get interesting. I am sorry to report that it actually tastes nothing like a cheeseburger. There is no sauce, no pickles and the meat tastes more like sausage roll meat rather than a flame-grilled burger patty. Regardless of the taste difference it is actually quite delicious. The fusion of cheese and meat delivers a powerful punch to the tastebuds.
Overall the ‘Cheeseburger Crust’ is a marketing gimmick and not a true reflection of the actual product. If you throw these expectations out the window you will simply enjoy a pizza that is both innovative and delicious. We give it a big thumbs up.
