An Unwelcome Guest
When the doorbell had rung long after sunset she hadn’t been sure what to expect, but she certainly hadn’t expected Him. She had been wary from the start as Salad growled low at the door. She answered it cautiously only to come face to face with a part of her past she thought she had outrun. He had run his hands through his brown hair and grinned at her in that predatory and self-satisfied sort of way that made her skin crawl and her blood boil, somehow at the same time, like she was a piece of meat for him to gnaw on. Fuck. How had he found her? “Hey there sweet cheeks!” His voice still made her gut lurch and she didn’t waste time on words with the man. “Fuck off Adam.” She felt her stomach curdle with the primal chemicals of fear but fought the instinctive reaction, slamming the door in his face without so much as a farewell, bolting it tightly.
“Aw come on now honey- Open the door.” She could hear him emphasizing his words with his fist on the wood, growing more insistent as she leaned against the door with her back. “I SAID FUCK OFF ADAM.” Where had she put her weapons when she moved? Were they in the closet? No...still in her trunk. Damn. Daliyah cursed under her breath, the muttering interrupted abruptly by a heavy thud against the door. Salad started to growl, baring his fangs at the would-be intruder. A few seconds and then another jaw-rattling thud against the wood. Fucking Gods, was he trying to kick in the door? After a long moment it grew quiet, drawing her away from the door and moving over to the window beside it to try and see if he was gone.
There was a sudden dull smack against the glass as he seemed to emerge out of the failing light, nearly startling her out of her own skin and causing Salad to snap and snarl, Adam's forehead pressed against the glass as he peered in at her, an angry grimace on his face. “Open the door you fucking bitch!” She stared at him for a moment, her eyes moving to the wooden shutters. He caught the direction of her gaze and moved suddenly, trying to ram his shoulder into the glass of the uncovered window as she slammed the shutters closed and latched them. “Let me in Daliyah! Don’t make me force my way in.” She moved as fast as she could to the other windows along the walls of the living room, the enraged man outside only narrowly trailing behind her as she slammed the shutters close. She could hear impacts against the windows as she latched the wooden shutters, the sudden sound of cracking glass at one window sending a frisson of adrenaline through her as she secured the last and took several strides back into the center of the room, Salad placing himself between her and the man who had now moved to the back door, throwing his full weight into it from the sound of it.
She had retreated to the small alcove between the kitchen and the living room, fumbling with the lock before she managed to get it open- digging out a dagger from the trunk resting there and put her back to the wall. The slamming of his body against the wooden back door continued for quite some time, the man raising his voice and making noise fit to wake the neighbours (if he hadn’t already), until it sounded as though he had tired himself out and the shouting of threats and curses eventually faded. She let out a low sigh, sliding down the wall to the floor with an unsteady breath. He seemed to be gone, at least for now. Now that he had found her he would be back. She knew that the way she knew the sky was blue. She would spend the night curled up with Salad in the floor of the alcove, dagger in hand, till the morning light came, hoping Adam would stay away for the night- or at the very least that the windows and doors would hold.
I just saw mrs wiedenhoeft live at a local restaurant. She was absolutely ethereal. Ive never heard or seen anything better in all my years of living not to mention shes a wonderful, bright eyed and inviting person. Her husband adam (or captain) was equally spellbinding. Enjoy some of her music, you wont regret it.

i couldn’t decide which one i liked best
Adam Chambers
It’s not my decision but he is a very talented player, which everyone can see from the games he has played. He is a good lad too and fitted straight into what we are doing. He would be a great addition to the team, to the squad, as long as he could stay here. It would be great to see him stay here for longer. It improves the quality of the squad as a whole and competition for places too.
