So apparently I had a WIP among my files that I never posted, and I rectified that today! I posted the first and second chapter of this CSI: NY fic where, in the aftermath of Angell's death, there is more violence that the team has to endure. I have no idea when I'll get to watch CSI: NY again to refresh my memory on how all the characters sound, but please enjoy the start of it for now!
Everything You Ever - While the team is toasting Angell's memory, the restaurant they are in is the target of a drive-by shooting. Flack is severely injured, and it's up to Mac and his team to find the suspects while supporting Flack through some of the toughest times he's ever been through.
Read Chapter 1
Shots rang out as everyone toasted Angell. Glass shattered and everyone tried to hit the floor as soon as they could. Most of them succeeded, Stella thought to herself as the gunfire stopped and the sound of a car squealing it’s tires to speed away was heard. “Everyone okay?” she called out. She was given answers by almost everyone. But two people were conspicuously absent. Hawkes went around to check one of the waitresses who had been near the bar, and Flack was…
“Waitress is dead,” Hawkes said quietly as Stella got to Flack and her eyes widened.
“Flack!” Stella said. There was a pool of blood under him and he was unresponsive, but when she checked his pulse she felt one. “Someone call an ambulance!”
Hawkes hurried over from where he was and joined the crowd that was gathering around Stella. “Don’t move him!” he said, kneeling down nest to Flack, next to Stella.
“But he’s bleeding.”
Hawkes took a look. “It looks like he got shot in the back,” Hawkes said quietly. “But if we move him…”
“I know,” Stella said. “But we have to do something!”
“Ambulance should be here in a few,” Mac said. He looked worried, but he turned to Stella, who was holding his hand. “He’ll be okay. He’s a fighter.”
“Mac,” she said quietly. “Mac, why him? After today…why him?”
Mac was quiet, not knowing how to answer that question. Everyone sank into silence until the ambulance got there, and then there was a rush of activity as the paramedics attempted to stop the bleeding and get him on the bus without hurting him more.
“Which hospital are you taking him to?” Stella asked the paramedic.
“Trinity,” she said.
“We’ll meet you there,” Mac said. He looked around at everyone. “Danny, call his family. Everyone else…” he trailed off.
“We’re going to the hospital,” Hammerback said firmly. “He can’t be alone. Not today.”
Mac nodded. “Then I’ll let whichever detectives are handling this know we’re all going to be at Trinity to get our statements and I’ll meet you there.” The others dispersed and Mac stood looking around the scene, his eyes moving to the pool of blood on their own volition. Why today, he thought to himself before his brain started to figure out who had reasons to want any or all of them dead. He knew he wouldn’t be able to make this his case, because none of the CSIs were staying around to work it, but he didn’t blame them. If this didn’t need to get done he’d already be on his way to the hospital.
For now, though, he thought as he looked at the blood, he would make damn sure that the people who did this were caught. And he would do everything in his power to make that happen, even if he wasn’t handling the case personally. Because it was personal now, just like Angels case had been.

It was about an hour after they got there that Flack’s father arrived. Don Flack, Sr. entered the hospital and was met by Danny, who quickly told him everything they knew that he hadn’t told him on the phone. He just looked tired and sat down to wait for word on his son, saying nothing to Flack’s co-workers and friends.
“You would think he’d at least acknowledge us,” Stella said quietly to Hawkes as she sipped her coffee.
“He was like this after the explosion, remember?” Hawkes reminded her.
“I know, but that time he actually talked to Mac. With Mac not being here yet…”
Just as she spoke Mac came in and went over to Flack’s father. They talked for a moment before Mac came over to the cluster of CSIs. The only one not present was Lindsay, but Mac figured she had gone home and gotten Lucy from the babysitter. Whether she would bring the baby to the hospital or not was something Mac didn’t know.
“Know anything yet?” Mac asked, looking weary.
“He’s in surgery,” Hawkes said. “They got the bleeding to stop on the way here but he lost a lot. They don’t know yet if he’s…”
“Going to be paralyzed?” Adam said quietly.
“Yeah,” Hawkes said.
Danny slumped down into the seat next to Hawkes. “Just this morning, I saw him sitting here after he brought Jess here and they told him they lost her. He broke down, Mac. I’ve never seen him break down like that before. And now he’s back here and he’s on the table this time…”
Mac put a hand on Danny’s shoulder before sitting next to him. “I know. Today, and with him…”
“It’s not fair,” Stella said angrily. “It’s like God hates him or something.”
No one replied to that, all of them thinking their own thoughts, most of them agreeing with her in their head. Finally Mac spoke up again, turning to Danny. “Is Lindsay with Lucy?”
He nodded. “We told the babysitter we’d be back by nine, and Lindsay went to go relieve the babysitter. Then she’s taking Lucy over to my mom’s and coming back here. She should be back any minute.”
Mac nodded as well. “That’s good. I get the feeling Don would appreciate it.”
“Will appreciate it,” Stella said quietly.
“You’re right,” he said. Then he stood up again. “I’m going to get a cup of coffee. Call me if anything happens while I’m gone?”
“I will,” Hawkes said.
Mac headed towards the cafeteria when a doctor went past. “Who’s here for Detective Flack?” he asked.
“We are,” Mac said, heading back to the group as Flack’s father joined them.
“He’s stable, but still in critical condition,” the doctor said. “There is damage to the spine, but the spinal cord wasn’t severed. It’s going to take him quite a bit of time, but he will be able to walk again.”
Stella sighed in relief. “Can we see him?” she asked.
“Family first,” he said. “Then briefly, one at a time. He’s asleep right now.” He paused. “It might actually be best if you come back tomorrow when he’ll be awake.”
Mac shook his head. “We’ll wait to see him tonight.”
“Yeah,” Stella said.
The doctor nodded. “Are you family?” he asked Flack’s father. He nodded. “I’ll take you to his room. If you will all follow me, there are chairs outside his room where you can wait.”
Everyone began to troop over that way. “Wait a sec!” they heard from the entry to the ER. Their heads turned and they saw Lindsay and Maka headed towards them. “Look who I caught on the way in.”
“Is he okay?” Maka asked.
“He’s going to be okay,” Hawkes said. “He’s not paralyzed.”
Maka looked just a little happier. “Good.”
“What are you doing here, anyway?” Danny asked.
“I’m the detective in charge. I’ve worked with you guys well in the past, even though Mac tells me it won’t be your case.”
“If we visit quickly, it can still be our case,” Mac said. “There’s a lot of evidence to process there and there’s only a few working directly at the scene. Maka just interviewed witnesses.”
“Glad to have you on the case,” Stella said to Maka with a smile.
The doctor cleared his throat and they all began to follow him, talking quietly to themselves as they did. He was alive, and he was going to pull through, and for now that was enough.
Former WWE Superstar Adam Rose announced through his Instagram profile that he had a heart attack during the last weekend, but he is now feeling better.
He added that he was nothing very serious and that he will return to see everyone very soon. Rose had announced last month withdrawal from wrestling.
