The end of the night was always an uneasy time for Leilani-- between making sure that the bouncers cleared the club out, and ensuring that the night’s cleaning crew was ready to get to work, she always looked forward to helping balance the nightly cash intake. But tonight was different. The numbers were mismatching and suspicious--the very last thing she needed to deal with tonight. Most nights she preferred taking her problems to Caius. At least he seemed to look at her rather than past her like a certain someone did.
Leilani glanced up and felt her stomach drop. Speak of the Devil and you shall receive. “Adam,” she called, waving a little hand over her head. “These numbers aren’t adding up and I’d rather not be here all night. Can I get a second opinion?”
