oh god I just had a revelation about a pokemon fanfic I'll never right but good golly do I have any to
I've been trying to incorporate legends arceus this story about legendary/mythical pokemon having their souls split in two by Arceus in the beginning of creation, resulting in avatar-like humans who represent specific pokemon (similar to pairs in pokemas ex)... but they've been forgotten through time for various reasons.
anyhow, irida and adaman are literally PERFECT to represent palkia and dialga but it gets weird real fast to have world ending plots going back and forth thru time. plus ingo and dawn need return to the future.
and. it finally hit me.
we've all been pointing out how, while most of the main pla cast are obvious ancestors to known characters, neither irida or adamen are obviously related to anyone we know.
what if that's because the two leaders suddenly disappeared from all history accounts, the why's lost to time. which, throughout the story makes them fear they're destined to die soon, only to realize in actuality they're destined for the future
just like how the pla protag was needed in the past to save their world, adamen and irida are needed in the future to help right things. perhaps they're needed to help balance space, time, and humanity. perhaps they're bring back the old hisuin pokemon and teachings that were lost.
all it adds up to eventually is that they're destined to travel and live in the future.
before leaving, adamen turns the diamond clan to mai, and irida and the pearl clan to palina (and then they unite the clans thru palina and iscan's marriage)
