Perfect Strangers || Selina & Ed
Edward Nygma had grown tired of the games. They always were the same only the tune was a little different. The commissioner or mayor would get some corrupt cop out of trouble or make someone’s problems disappear. Being ‘good’ didn’t seem to pay off. The only thing it did was get you kicked in the teeth. Which incidentally was no fun ever. It had taken him years of being beaten down— figuratively of course to get to the point of finally wanting to do something. So, Ed spent his evenings looking for ways to prove that the mayor and commish were as corrupt as they came. In truth it started out with ulterior motives since Flass had embarrassed him in one of the most humiliating ways possible next to public nudity. In the year that Ed had worked file after file of cases he found nothing.. That didn’t stop him though.
The diner was where he spent a great deal of his time ‘reading’. That’s what he was doing when people asked anyways. He’d been lost for who knew how long in a file full of names that were all the same. The low hum of people talking in the background was simply white noise.
Even the young lady that slipped into the booth across from him meant nothing much. It wasn’t until she started to talk that Ed even bothered looking up. “I’m sorry I don’t think I caught your name.” He stated quickly tucking the files away in an attempt to hide what he’d been looking at.
