addicted for 15 days ★ a character you love dearly
during summer 2015 i fell in love with her and i was overly enthusiast about her, her own story and the one she shared with connor.
the first reason why i fell in love at first word with her was because she was so good with her words. she snapped, bickered, bantered back since her first scene (with lo) and that was it, i was done for.
the second reason why my interest keeps growing more and more is because rose as a character, is incredible. she starts the story and she has not a lot for herself, she could stay a side character but you learn to discover her and she keeps surprising you. that line of connor saying she is an equation that doesn't need to be solved might be the best one to describe her. she never goes with society standards, she walks her own path. i don't think it is said that she is a stunning beauty but her whole behaviour, the words she speaks, her demeanour make her so attractive and it makes her so compelling.
the third reason why i grew so attached to her was during KTS and Thrive, where some of the media focus is on her and she is described as cold, unsmiling, unfeeling, etc. at the time i was reading the books for the first time, i also started watching casey neistat's vlogs where his wife sometimes make an appearance and was the target of a lot of critics saying she is moody, grumpy, unsmiling, a bitch, etc but she never changed her attitude, she stayed herself despite all those comments. i have never been the subject to those words at this extreme but people often tell me that i should smile more, be more pro-active and kind to people, be nicer with my words, etc. and i tried for a long time to do that but it was not me at all. i am grumpy, i can hurt with my words and my face shows my feelings so when i'm mean i sent dark glares and when i'm unhappy, i don't smile. last summer, both rose and candice poole just gave me that little push on the back to say fuck it and embrace myself and not try to fit the mold other people wanted me to.
and the last reason why she is such an inspiring character right now to me is because she keeps growing. she starts the story with some dreams, with an idea of the life she wants, and those dreams and ideas grow with her. she never complies with society standards but she struggles and moves along her own mistakes, her own growth, her own needs and the ones of those she cares for. i like that calloway couture didn't end up to be what she wanted it to, and that later she turned her /failure/ to her own success with Lo and her baby range. i like that she is adamant about not wanting a child and that her story with connor slowly brings her to the point that she can see it and she wants it but it never changes her own view of children and it didn't warm up to other children. i am inspired by Rose because she is a woman who walks through life being her own, carrying her dreams and ambitions, her mind and her passion and is relentless about living her life and not somebody's else, she does her mistakes and learns from them and i am so glad i decided to give these books a chance and to have found such a model to look up to.
