If you think you're special because you only watched spider noir in black and white im judging you

I can't even count how many times ive seen "I'm judging you if you watched spider noir in color" posts people make for hipster points or something. Its just weird to me and i kinda feel like it shows an ironic lack of understanding for how the black and white was achieved technically.

Spider Noir is not colorized. There is no color grading. All the colors are captured as they were on the set. The colors are literally what makes the black and white look so good. Different colors show up differently in b&w and because of that, every color serves a purpose. The combinations of colors are a FEAST for the eyes and completely unlike anything else made these days. I love the color because it allows you to see HOW they achieved the impressive black and white version.

Like at a time when everything is made with shortcuts why would you complain about getting to watch something twice with a different experience each time?

“We were able to utilize the richness of all these color values that were produced on set, and my job was to design the color representation of their work. When you’re watching in color, you want it to have that experience of color, the vibrancy, the joy, and the charm of watching something that’s very comic book-like. And then when you watch in black and white, you’re now looking into the 1930s, but the texture and the emotional response had to be somewhat in the same world. That was the most challenging part of making these two versions.”

I have 4 pages planned and sketched (no where near done I ain't that fast) but keep your eyes peeled these next couple weeks for that 👀.

Also, side note- Ben's flashbacks... they made him too young. If in 1933 he was supposed to be 63, then that man would be in his mid 40s or late 40s... bro, looks 20/30. World War 1/The Great War ended in November 1918.... the math ain't mathing.

So my story I made him look older and not baby faced, because the dudes a Sargent too! That takes years! Anyways I'm a nerd
