She’d ran to Astor’s office. In retrospect that hadn’t been her brightest idea, but it was quiet and no one should have bothered her there. She sighed heavily looking over her cell, nothing. It was already 11 o’clock at night, so everyone should have been asleep.
She laid her phone on the desk with aggravation. She never should have come to this stupid party. Adeline stomped her foot in a small tantrum only to hear a chuckle behind her at the door.
Astor had followed Adeline up into his office, much to his own surprise. “Now Miss Ferrell, what are you doing in my office?” He asked, walking to her slowly as if she were a small animal and he the large lion ready to pounce.
“It was peaceful.”
“You know that no one is allowed in here without me requesting it.”
Adeline huffed, lifting her chin in defiance. “I’m not on your dime right now Mr. Astor, so I will go where I please.”
Astor slowly grinned, pulling Adeline against him once more. “This is still my domain Adeline.”
