The ADM-160 Miniature Air-Launched Decoy (MALD) Is About to Get Deadlier.
Able to be launched in swarms, then replicate the radar signature of everything from an F-117A Nighthawk to a B-52 Stratofortress, the MALD is now being upgraded to swarm air defense systems, gather the electronic signals response of the defenders, and beam it back to friendly forces for planning SAM-avoiding strike routes and follow-on attacks.
Additionally, the MALD-J can act as a tactical jammer for SAMs and radar sites, much like a mini-EA-18G Growler. The MALD-J will also have the capability to be remotely-controlled from it's launcher aircraft, allowing pilots to re-direct the decoy to additional targets.
