The Old World was lost to famine and calamity and a new, harsher one has risen in its place. A city divided into sectors, ruled by a king and his chaebol court, where the Marked struggle to eke out a living in poverty and oppression, and one mistake can get you sanctioned forever - lost to hard labor in the factories and greenhouses or to life as a companion trapped in the gilded apartments of the inner sector elite.
But a revolution is stirring in the shadows and everything is about to change.

admin mai: I read this, all 214k words of it, in one day. It came at a time when I was having trouble getting into any fics at all, and I’ve been aware of its existence for a while but had only gotten around to reading it recently. And wow, I don’t have the words. This quickly shot up to being one of my top 3 fics, if not my favorite fic. I love how this story is entirely plot-driven, and while I enjoyed all the ships in it, I was really in it for the way sharpa wove this story and POVs together. So so well-written and paced perfectly, world-building an A+, made everyone’s POV a joy to read, i loved it so much.
Of course, usually in fics this long, there are bound to be warnings, and once again I implore you to read the tags before starting on this. The tags are there for a reason, and the story could get really heavy and triggering at times, so please read it at your own discretion.
