*literally anyone*: says that they like my content and would like more
Me, yeeting myself at my laptop with all the force of a great typhoon: WELL IF YOU INSIST.
(in all seriousness-- @heckin-music-dork thank you for your interest in this au! I’m glad you’re enjoying it, cause I sure as heck am!)
-We pick up shortly after Kanan and Hera made out in Lake Superior
-Obviously, Kanan wants to be as close to his girlfriend as possible, so he starts looking for new jobs in towns closer to hers
-(his old job probably sucked anyways)
-Eventually he finds something he likes-- not to seem cliche or anything, but I’m thinking he works at some kind of outdoor recreation place, like Cabela’s. If y’all have seen Last Man Standing you know of what I speak-- and a cheap place to stay. And by cheap place to stay, I mean he ends rooming with Janus Kasmir, my main man.
-So a couple years pass, Kanan and Hera are dating, Kanan’s got a pretty good job and he’s starting to think about the future. Because he’s Kanan.
-But the future kind of gets interrupted when he catches this kid trying to steal a tent from the store he works at.
-(which, if you’ve read my first post, you know would only end in disaster anyways)
-Kanan catches him, and briefly considers handing him over to the security officers who work with him. But for whatever reason, he doesn’t. Maybe because the kid looks like he hasn’t eaten anything in days. Maybe because he sees a stubborn light in the boy’s eyes that he remembers from himself. Maybe because he’s a huge softie. Hint-- it’s all of them
-But either way, he takes a break and gets the kid something to eat, tries to figure out exactly who he is and where his people are.
-Turns out Ezra Bridger-- for so he is called-- doesn’t have people. He’s alone. And Kanan immediately starts to figure out what he can do to help this kid.
-He never thought as far as taking care of the kid himself, obviously-- Kanan doesn’t see himself as dad material. But after going through official channels and reporting things to the police and talking to some people in CPS, he finds himself taking Ezra home.
- “just for the night, we’ll figure everything else out in the morning,” he says, and Hera (who he called first thing) smirks behind her hand because she knew better from the moment she saw Kanan convincing Ezra that talking to the police was the best move here, from the moment she saw Ezra give Kanan that ‘I have decided to trust you and only you’ look.
-It takes Kanan two weeks to realize that Ezra needs to stay, and a whole lot longer to finalize everything. But in the end, Kanan becomes exactly what he thought he wasn’t-- a dad. And he’s pretty darn happy about that
