Today and for the next few days I get to spend time with one of my closest and oldest friends. I met him my first week of college and for a decade or so we saw each other at least once a week if not more. I went through some of the best and worst times of my life with this guy. Then I moved across the country and had kids. Between the time difference and juggling little ones, it's hard to keep in consistent touch. And honestly, when you aren't in each other's daily lives you lose some of those common points of reference. But I'm so grateful to have the next few days to catch up, show him around my city, and give him a chance to spend time with my girls. Our friendship has lasted half our lives and that's something to cherish and celebrate.
