it really breaks my heart reading Marvin’s notebook at the RPD. you can feel how eager they were to make rookie Leon feel welcomed. they bought soda in case he doesn’t drink alcohol, decorated the banner with stars, and they even got him a gift from Kendo’s shop.

it’s a bittersweet feeling to hear Leon say “hey, Lieutenant Branagh. Kennedy… reporting for duty.”—knowing he was meant to speak those very same words 28 years ago, with hope instead of weight behind them. he was supposed to join them, work with them, laugh with them— but now, only silent ghosts of the past remain. another ‘what-if’ gnaws again.

it’s an insult for Zeno/Victor to use that welcome banner to mock Leon once he went inside the RPD; that was something made with care & love. along with the note ‘you can’t save anyone’… they really want to poke at his wounds.

and yet, Leon moves forward, just like he always does.
