Adorya Baly is a 22-year-old young professional. She currently serves on the Behavioral Health Unit of Peebles Hospital in the British Virgin Islands. Adorya has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and her goal is to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology. She wants to continue assessing the needs of the mentally challenged to help create a more productive, meaningful and safer society. Adorya intends to open a counseling center and a non-profit organization to empower young girls to be their best despite their circumstances. Her ultimate goal is to serve with love and help future generations achieve their personal goals. Adorya Baly was crowned Miss British Virgin Islands 2015 at the end of the pageant held on August 2, 2015. She succeeds to Jaynene Jno Lewis who competed at Miss Universe 2014 in Doral Miami where she failed to place." Ciara Christian was crowned as first runner-up, Ashellica Fahie was crowned as second runner-up and Damonique Maloney was crowned as third runner-up in the pageant. Adorya also managed to win the subtitles of Best BVI Promotions, Best in interview, Best in Swimwear and Best Talent. The clear crowd favourite from the time she opened her mouth to introduce herself, Baly blew away the field with her powerful, emotionally-charged piece in the Talent Segment, which carried the most points. She performed a dramatic piece, telling the story of an enslaved African woman who was beaten and raped by several soldiers. Baly also used the opportunity to call on community leaders to recognize the struggles of the then slaves as the territory stages its annual emancipation celebration. She urged the leaders to also put down the modern weapons of what she called mass destruction. Baly told those in attendance – including BVI Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. D. Orlando Smith, that the minimum wage is a weapon of mass destruction – as well as the phenomenon of children having babies. That observation resonated with the gathering, leading to a thunderous applause for the contestant. @Ms.BVI_2015 #AdoryaBaly #MissBritishVirginIslands #BeuatyQueen #islandpeeps (at British Virgin Islands)
