Salty Dogs
Seasons is not something that occurs much in Los Angeles. It’s usually warm or hot, and with a great chance of drought. So when salt comes to mind, I think margaritas, but this thought is not shared in Morton Salt’s latest ad “Neighbors.”
A disney-esque type of ad, we find two loyal dogs reminiscing of their time together before the snow comes down and separates them, but then comes the Morton salt, and saves the day.
Its amazing that even products like salt can create content that is rich with story and Morton Salt succeeded in this ad. It captures the concern of humans and dogs during snow days.
The audience this ad is targeting are the caring pet owners in areas where snow occurs, and secondary, any house owner who is looking for an ice melt product for their ice and snow problem.
At the end of the ad, their is a call to action for both types of audience that directs them straight to their product page. This ad is utilized to create leads for their “Safe-T-Pet” ice melt product or any ice melt product that might be needed in the household. It is also utilized for awareness of their products, I for one, did not know the extent that Morton Salt was being utilized.
As far as the social media aspects being utilized to showcase their new commercial, it is cross promoted on their twitter and facebook, but are not yet present on their instagram page.
As far as a recommendation for Morton Salts efforts to market to their audience, they should utilize a hashtag to promote user generated content that is connected with the welfare and compassion for their pets.
For example, #safepethappypet
