Has Dr. Ferox and friends ever known of a functional pituitary tumor resection being performed on a dog in real life? Or an adrenal, even? I wonder how rare these procedures are.
gettingvetted here.
Pituitary tumor removal is the standard of treatment for human Cushing's disease and has been experimentally performed in animals, but is not a routine surgery by any means. The adrenalectomy is more common but still quite rare, given that we have such an effective oral treatment for Cushing's.
