depending on how old this record is, "fagged out" might be old slang for "exhausted" and might not have had any homophobic connotations at the time

Iowa is like the wasteland from Fallout without all the cool mutants. Just dust and desolation and little scrappy towns built around truck stops, until you get to Des Moines or something, and then they consider it a “city” but it feels more like the “suburbs” of other states and the culture feels weirdly behind everywhere else.Internet service is also just terrible and if you happen to be nocturnal there is nothing you can do, nothing is open, nobody out after like ten PM except I guess at Denny’s.

I think you're mixing up the Cascadia movement with the Northwestern Front movement. Cascadia is a vaguely leftist movement that is heavily influenced by native american voices. Northwestern Front is a white nationalist movement that isn't ACTUALLY secessionist. The only real similarity is that their flags have the same colors on them. NWF tried to co-opt cascadia movement but was pretty quickly booted out. A misinformed tumblr post went around recently that conflated the two.
