Geomapping Koi was a far more intimidating prospect than mapping Beaulieu had been. Not because it was harder to get around, far from it, and he had the map application on his phone as a starting point, but it was much busier, much more citylike, 9S found. As far as he had a reference point for cities, anyway. Mainly it had been footage from old human films and television shows. There were just so many people here, so many things to see, things he wanted to reach out and touch while also feeling like if he dared to do so he’d get an electrical shock. It’s that strange dread that keeps him from entering any of the establishments, even though they stood with their doors open and welcoming.
Recording building heights and street elevation got dull, so he finds himself attracted to shop display windows as he methodically wanders the streets, staring in like a stray dog. This time he’s remembered to take the blindfold visor off so people don’t assume he’s going to walk into them, unable to see where he’s going. There are bakeries, cafes, an arcade... All things long-extinct at home.
He pauses by a clothing store, one with racks of jackets and sweaters sitting on the sidewalk outside, enticing potential customers with a sample of its wares. HUMAN flickers in his vision, keying in on the young man browsing the racks. Although he was well-aware now that there were many humans in the city, and that many of them were getting on just fine without him, his programming clamps its claws around whatever algorithm prioritized his actions. 9S salutes, placing his left hand flat on his chest and bowing his head. “YoRHa Number 9, type S at your service, sir. Please let me assist you in any way that I can.”
