After seeing that comment we thought there should be an easier way for people to find out all the information they need to and a way to get tickets. We decided that creating a website to act as a central hub for everything from info to getting tickets would be the best idea. All the different social media platforms would be able to link back to this rather than having a facebook page as the only way to get information.
Hit or Miss
We decided on the name hit or miss because of the multiple connotations of the word “Hit” with it being able to relate to music or a song being a ‘number 1 hit’ with the phrase being hit or miss this also hints at the voting aspect of the clip.
Hit or Miss is a campaign to try and get viewers to interact with classical music by either voting on a clip if they thought it was a Hit or a Miss. People can get involved by sending in their clips of them playing a classical instrument to get feedback from other people and possibly win a competition with whoever got the most Hits.
The video clips would be sent as a series of videos or advertisements on various social media platforms where we could take advantage of existing devices in place such as the retweet feature or the ability to skip an add on Youtube.
Social Campaign Ideas
In part of the brief it says that they want a publicity campaign that can be spread virally. We thought something that utilises social media would be the best way to get a “viral” kind of campaign going and this could then inform people about it and tell them to go to the facebook page to find out more information.
Change in direction
After speaking to a few tutors we realised that for M/Int we dont have to stick to the brief exactly and are allowed to adapt it slightly to suit our needs. This is great news as i really wasnt happy with doing a listings poster and I think I was just trying to think of ways to add motion to something just for the sake of answering the brief rather than coming up with a solution for the problem and the motion being a part of that solution.

Event Info Page (Web + Mobile) (2nd Page and Bottom left)
For the event information we wanted it to be as simple as possible and clear to understand. The design was quite plain and simple with a white opacity background so the events image would still be visable with the description for it. It wasn’t faded too much so as not to distract with the text. The blue and pink have been used to add a splash of colour and to draw attention to the important or more interesting information on the page.
Buy Tickets Page (Web + Mobile) (Top and Bottom right)
Simplicity was the key here, we wanted the page to be easy to understand and navigate. We devided the page up into sections using faint lines, this allowed for a level openness to the page whilst still keeping order. This kept the page clutter free which is what you want when dealing with a smaller screen.
The key information is easily found and the call to actions are easily seen too. Overall this makes a seamless and enjoyable booking process

We wanted this campaign to be quite a big part of raising awareness of Sonic Manchester so we needed the page to reflect this. The use of flat colours and the colour scheme we have kept throughout keep it simple and easy to navigate.
By adding in the ability to view past entries we created a reason for viewers and students to come back to the site to possibly look at the clips they might have missed or to see how their clip they sent in is doing.
Website Design
Listings page (left)
This is the listings page for the website, it is also the landing page. The reason for this is that content is king, this is what the user is looking for when visiting the website.
There is also a visual hirearchy to the page, the top being full screen and bold, these are upcoming/featured events. Below are more upcoming events, organised neatly in an easy to understand grid format.
The page is broken up slightly with a featured event in the middle, this was there to break the mould and premote the events that Sonic Manchester think are the ones to see
About Page (right)
The about page can sometimes be boring, we wanted to create something that had some character and showed some personality.
The page opens with a full screen black and white image, we wanted to catre to everyone’s devices and take full oportunity of their screen realestate. The website follows a simple, flat design that is very easy to navigate and will seem familiar to many.
