For this task, in groups we were asked to create an ‘adventure dress’. We were only allowed to use paper, pins, and tape to create this ‘garment’ and very short amount of time. We decided to form our dress out of paper aeroplanes. Each aeroplane had a different country on them - this was to represent travelling all over the world. The pilots hat accessory was added as although it was inkeeping with the theme, it also bought something different to the overall piece.
i am pleased with the outcome of our dress, especially as we had no preparation time and therefor no time to come up with any ideas - however we managed to do it. Working with paper proved to be a lot harder than working with usual materials as it tears when pulled to tight and also does not fall naturally or fit a body like fabrics usually do. With such a short amount of time, we had to make sure we were being careful enough as to not rip the paper, but also work fast enough to complete the dress. Our team worked very well together - two of us folded the paper aeroplanes, one made the top part of the dress and the other two made the bottom. Working in smaller teams within our team saved us a lot of time, ensuring we could finish the dress and also leaving us extra time, which we used to create the hat.
