Now that Carter is pretty much out of commission for under saddle work, I’m even more motivated to work on clicker training with him. I just hope that it translates well to our under saddle “connection” so to speak when he comes back into full work.

After over a month of issues, I finally had a fully sound and successful ride on this guy. I think that with such a rigorous training schedule ruling every one of our rides leading up to the fall season, I didn’t have the chance to fully appreciate the profound affect of my daily rides on my overall wellbeing. Just after this evening’s brief flat ride, I feel more centered and focused than I have in the past month, and I felt the bone-deep exhaustion melt away with every stride. I really do love this guy, and I will never fully appreciate everything he brings to my life just by being in it. #AdventuresOfTheGingerChild (at Horse Haven Equestrian Center)
