Training days were supposed to be fun, right? Or at least all the movies make them out to be this glamorously fun time where you’ll get miraculously get better for whatever the fuck you’re training for. In reality, they sucked-- a lot-- and hurt-- a lot-- especially when you have no idea how to fight properly and could maybe be in better shape like a special little mutant was.
He lets out a gasp as a knee painfully lands a hit to his stomach, easily knocking the wind out of him. Why is this happening? Why didn’t he block that-- he totally could’ve, like the other dozen or so good hits the other had landed beforehand. He, of course, landed a couple of good hits too ( he wasn’t completely useless-- he’s taken one or two self defense classes back in the day ). He was stronger and a teeny bit taller than her, but for whatever shit luck she knew more about fighting than he did.
If they could use their mutations in this exercise, then it’d e a different story altogether, but no they have to learn the “art” of hand-to-hand combat because that’s “important” and a “vital skill” for becoming whatever it was that the foundation was molding them into at this point. Jjong understands the importance, sure, but he doesn’t understand what god wants him to experience this the amount of humiliation right now. Masculinity is so fragile, and Jjong is already has enough self-hatred and he certainly doesn’t need this beating to be another reason.
