7 Truths | On The Topic of Relationships | In Honor of Valentine’s Day
To maintain a healthy union, I feel that couples need the 2 T’s everyday - Touch & Talk.
I like to plan weekends with my partner in advance. Anticipation will always send a shot of excitement throughout the week, thus keeping curiosity and interest in the union.
Growing up, my parents were my rock. I don’t remember my father ever missing a day of work. I don’t remember my mother ever having anything negative to say about anyone. They were both very disciplined. Both did what had to be done without the need to complain. I compared every man I dated to my parents. If they fell short, I considered them weak.
I believe the perfect love story carries the following underlying themes: Love, disappointment, redemption, and the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity.
For me, the body and the spirit are inextricably linked. Therefore, sexual intimacy is of paramount importance because it serves as a conduit to connect with divinity.
When it comes to relationships, romantic or otherwise, I’ve always considered myself a rather forgiving person; with one exception. I don’t tolerate betrayal. The friend of my enemy becomes my enemy, No exceptions. The reason is two-fold. First, I am extremely private. My business is mine to tell, when and to whom I so choose. I can’t bring myself to trust anyone with ties to anyone I don’t trust. Some may call this paranoia. I call it maintaining healthy boundaries, honor and self respect. Second, I am extremely loyal. When loyalty is not reciprocated, I see it as a breach of trust.
I am a self professed over thinker, a little hyper, and restless, too. I think that’s why I’ve always been attracted more to the chase than the conquest. For me, for a relationship to work, it must carry the element of adventure, exploration and discovery. Stagnation leads to boredom, and boredom leads to decay.
