I hope you have a good read!
You and Jacaerys are walking down the corridors, still whispering about the last meeting of the small council, when you see Jaehaera walking down the hall with little Vaelor. What was striking was that the girl was without her royal guard, dressed in more ordinary clothes, and looking around nervously, as if trying to avoid being recognized.
“Jaehaera, what are you doing?”
Jacaerys admired how you didn't have to raise your voice to get Jaehaera's attention. The princess turned and walked dejectedly toward you both.
“I was taking Vaelor to fly,” your daughter replied.
“To fly?” Jacaerys repeats in a strangled voice. The thought of his two-year-old son riding a dragon filled him with dread. It had only been a few moons since he'd recovered from winter fever.
Jaehaera looked at him as if he were an idiot, and Jacaerys wondered if she had ever looked at Aegon like that.
“He’s two years old and he hasn’t flown yet,” she replied, wrinkling her nose and frowning at both Jacaerys and you, especially at Jacaerys. This made Jacaerys uncomfortable; he wasn’t used to Jaehaera looking at him like that. The girl was usually quiet and sweet.
“Because Vaelor is still a baby, and so is his dragon,” the king replied patiently.
“My father took us flying since we were babies,” Jaehaera said, lifting her chin. “My father would have taken Vaelor too.”
Jacaerys bit his lip to avoid a sharp reply; he didn't want to make his stepdaughter cry, much less anger you. But Jacaerys wanted to say that this should never have happened because Vaelor is his son, not Aegon's. Aegon is dead.
“Yes, you’re right,” you say softly, remembering the first time you and Aegon flew with the twins on Sunfyre’s back. You and Aegon had slipped past the watchful eyes of Alicent and Otto, who were against it because they feared the babies would be hurt. But Aegon said Sunfyre would never harm his own flesh and blood, and you believed him. When Maelor was a baby, you flew together too; that time, you and Aegon didn’t even bother trying to hide to go to Dragonpit with the baby. “We should take Vaelor to fly,” you say, looking at Jacaerys.
And since Jacaerys is a fool trying to improve his marriage and win his wife’s approval, he ends up agreeing, even though he doesn’t entirely like the idea.
So, an hour later, you arrive at Dragonpit. Jaehaera had grown impatient and had already flown off with Morghul, while you waited for Jacaerys to stop going around in circles.
“You’re being a fool, everything will be fine,” you say, rolling your eyes as Jacaerys double-checks that the cloth holding Vaelor to your chest is secure.
“Forgive me for worrying about my son’s safety,” Jacaerys says sarcastically, though his cheeks are slightly flushed.
Jacaerys is nervous about the baby’s first flight. In fact, he hadn’t even considered having Vaelor fly a dragon until his son’s dragon was older.
“You love Vaelor, and Vermax loves you, so he won’t do anything to Vaelor. Besides, I have him strong,” you say calmly. And in your eyes, there is such confidence that Jacaerys decides to trust your words.
Jacaerys gently helps you onto Vermax’s back—who never complains or tries to hurt you—before climbing in himself. He takes hold of the saddle straps while holding both you and Vaelor close.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Let’s go,” you demanded, and Jacaerys could sense the excitement and impatience behind your demand.
And that's when he realized it. It wasn’t just about Vaelor’s first flight; it was about you too. You hadn’t ridden a dragon in years. You only flew with Aegon and Sunfyre because you didn’t have a dragon of your own. You’d had one when you were little, but Cannibal ate it, and you were left without a mount.
“Sōvēs, Vermax!” Jacaerys commands, and the dragon instantly obeys, leaving Dragonpit.
Instead of focusing on the sky or the view of the city from above, Jacaerys watches you and Vaelor. He observes how the baby’s violet eyes take in everything with curiosity and fear, getting used to the new surroundings, the height, the wind in his face. Jace is thinking about returning to the ground. But then, you laugh as you stretch out your arms, and your eyes seem to sparkle for the first time in years. Vaelor looks at you in surprise and soon imitates you. Jacaerys doesn’t take his eyes off either of you, on his laughing son and on you, happy, truly happy. He holds you both tightly, not wanting to let you fall.
Jacaerys would later buy Jaehaera another doll for having this idea.
And from now on, he would start inviting you to fly with him.
“Someday all this will be yours, Vaelor.” Jacaerys hears you say to their son, unaware that these are the same words that Aegon and you once said to Jaehaerys.
warnings: this is pure angst, no happy ending, incest (aunt and nephew), mention of infant death and non-consensual voyeurism.

Shame.
Guilt.
Sick.
That's what Jacaerys feels every time he sees you and Jaehaera.
He wasn't the one who hired Blood and Cheese to kill Jaehaerys nor was he the one who butchered Maelor. However, he still feels sick when most of the time your eyes look empty and emotionless, or the nights that Jaehaera wakes up screaming because she dreams of her twin's head rolling on the floor again.
Jacaerys wasn't the one who murdered your children but he still wasn't a good man. If he was a good man then he would have let you leave this castle full of bloody memories and be free with your daughter. But the council said he needed you to strengthen his claim on the throne as well as to prevent the greens from rising against him. So he married you.
On your wedding day, Jacaerys finally saw, after days, an emotion in you: anger. You were dressed in black, and when you had to hold hands you dug your nails into him and recited your vows as if they were an insult. But he was not angry or offended. He felt that he deserved it for having put you in this position.
The night didn't get better when it came time to share a bed. If it had been up to Jacaerys, it would never have touched you, but Corlys Velaryon knew him well, so part of the council was present to witness the marriage being consummated. It did not matter that Jacaerys protected your body with his and the sheets or how much he tried to make it easy and pleasurable for you. It was humiliating and it was horrible, as soon as the council left the chambers Jacaerys joined in your silent crying.
When Jacaerys thought his guilt couldn’t get any worse, you got pregnant. The entire council was happy because the king would finally have an heir, but he felt sick seeing how miserable you looked. At least, before you would leave your chambers and occasionally he could see you smile—never at him, of course, always at Jaehaera—now you spent all your time in bed as if you had no energy for anything else. Sometimes Jacaerys would come to feed you and read you some book he remembered you liked in your youth. Your ladies took care of cleaning you and feeding you, on the days the king couldn’t come to eat with you because he had a meeting or was busy.
Jaehaera's cries got worse because you weren't comforting her anymore, you weren't talking to her anymore. And more than once Jacaerys thought about ending it all, giving you the moon tea himself so that your body would rid itself of the creature that caused so much misery. He preferred things to be the way they were before even though you barely tolerated it.
But the kingdom and the throne were more important, he needed an heir. If Aegon's prophecy was true then from his blood would come the prince that was promised.
Jacaerys prayed that you would have a child so he would never have to touch you again and make you suffer again. If the council asked for a replacement he would say it would be Aegon, his brother. He couldn't bear to see you pregnant again, he didn't want to see you so isolated from the world ever again, he didn't want the only thing you did was cry, that the only thing you seemed to feel was pain and sadness. He hoped that once you gave birth and were free of the creature, things would get better.
But he had to have been more specific in his prayers, he had to have asked the gods that the child would look like him because when he held his son in his arms for the first time all he saw was Jaehaerys.
I'm happy to share more about Jacaerys and this reader. I hope you all enjoy it. If you like it, please don't hesitate to leave a like, comment, and reblog. The comments and interactions always motivate me to continue writing 🥰🥰💖💖

I hope you have a good reading!
Jacaerys was surprised at the entrance to the chamber to see you sitting vigil over the child. He expected to find the handmaidens or the maester watching over him, not you. He felt guilty for thinking so little of you; of course, you would worry about the child once you found out he was sick. However, you wouldn't be spending much time with him. Jacaerys didn't blame you for not wanting to see the child that much; after all, he also avoided his own son because he couldn't help but see your Jaehaerys in his face. It's not as if it were a secret: the future heir to the throne seemed to be being raised by the handmaidens instead of his parents. Even Jaehaera and Egg seemed to be spending more time with the child than you two did. Except now because neither you nor Jacaerys wanted them to catch winter fever.
“I was praying,” you said, looking at him with tired eyes, but that was nothing new. Since your last pregnancy, you almost always looked tired. “You can join me if you want,” you decided to extend an olive branch. This wasn’t a time to argue. If this was his son’s last night alive, then you wouldn’t deprive Jacaerys of being with him in his final moments. You weren’t that cruel.
Jacaerys swallowed, feeling a little nervous. He was used to you avoiding him, to you rejecting him. “I would like that,” he said before sitting down in the chair next to you. Had you been waiting for him?
He watched as you clasped your hands and closed your eyes. He knew he had to join in your prayer, but he couldn't help but stare at your hands. There was dried blood on your cuticles. You may seem serene now, but that detail told him the situation was weighing on you. He couldn't imagine what was going through your head. It must have been traumatic for you. You'd already lost two sons; the gods couldn't be so cruel. Jacaerys felt a lump begin to form in his throat. You didn't deserve this.
Jacaerys closed his eyes and asked the gods to have mercy on you and to let their son live.
You both fell silent as the two of you continued your prayers. It wasn't a tense silence, but it wasn't harmonious either.
“If he lives, we have to be better,” you declared, breaking the silence, your eyes meeting Jacaerys’s. “I will be a better mother to him,” you promised.
“You are a good mother,” he said, because he couldn’t bear to hear you speak ill of yourself. You had done the best you could. He couldn’t hold you responsible when he and the kingdom forced you to bear a child you didn’t want in the first place.
“Don't lie,” you cut him off instantly. “I was terrible to him, to Jaehaera.” The tremor in your voice was like a blow to Jacaerys. “But I will get better and you should too. Our son deserves better.”
Your words hurt Jacaerys because he knew you were right. His son deserved a better father. Someone present, caring, and someone he could trust. It was ironic how before the war, Jacaerys imagined himself a loving father and ended up being an emotionally neglectful one. His mother would be disappointed. He, himself, was disappointed by his actions, by putting you and innocent children in this situation.
For the first time in years, you felt sorry for Jacaerys, seeing the tears and pain in his eyes. You still disliked being married to him, but the child you share is more important than any bad blood. Perhaps there could be a new beginning between you two, for their family.
I think I just quit my job, so if you have any headcanons or ideas you could share to cheer me up, I'd really appreciate it <3
Widow! Reader led me to invent a complicated lore; she's basically Aegon's twin, born first; when Alicent had her in her arms, the baby didn't smile, just glared at her.
Widow! Reader gives me the vibes of someone rational and pragmatic, but loving; I believe she had to grow up faster because Alicent was not parent of the year; all her siblings loved her, Alicent believes her presence is a blessing yet she feels like crap because her daughter has to be the adult.
So we know that book! Viserys bethroted H and A; well, now imagine a 13 year old reader, being forced to bed his own brother and carry twins.
If Alicent didn't hate in that moment Viserys she hated him more now.
Reader is more politically savvy and managed to convince the hand not to bethrot her other young siblings because it is too soon.
All goes for naught when she started to lose all her family; Aegon died poisoned, Helaena killed herself because she felt guilty for not understanding her dreams better and "killing" her nephews, Aemond died to redeem himself, Daeron died trying to save her.
Her mother died from a heartbroken heart.
Well freak.
Widow! Reader is going through it; her only family is Jaehaera, and the son from her second marriage.
:(
Hi, anon, how are you?
OMG, I wasn't expecting Widow! Reader's lore, but I love it. It's really creative. I always imagined her as Helaena's twin, but now I see your vision and it's more interesting.
It's more painful that she's the older sister. She had to grow up before her time and take care of/be the emotional support for her siblings in a way her mother couldn't. Her heart withers with each death.
Crying because both Reader and Jaehaera lost their twins. This is insane!
Thanks so much for writing to me, anon. I hope you're doing well, and next time, if you want, you can choose an emoji so I can identify you 🥰🥰💖💖
I feel bad for Jace and widow! Reader—both forced to be together: Her husband killed his mother, Jace is stepson of the man who murdered his son in front of her.
Widow is stronger than me because if my siblings were dead, I would join them as well, but she can't, she needs to be strong for Jaehaera.
I love how straightforward she is, and how they bonded.
Hope for the best, here they are "adults", well in their 20s but not children like Aegon and Jaehera :(
Hi, I'm happy to hear from you! Sorry for the delay in responding.
Same, I feel so bad for both of them. Jacaerys feels guilty about everything that happened to Widow, and Widow can't bear that her entire family is dead. She only has Jaehaera, so she has to be strong for her daughter.
I really think Jace and Widow will make amends in the future. They won't forget the past, but at least everything won't be so painful anymore.
Thank you for writing to me, I hope you are well and I hope to hear from you again some other time🥰🥰💖💖
Is widow! Reader alone? Like she has no family? Alicent? She has just her daughter :(
Yes, all of Widow's siblings are dead and Alicent too so she is alone with Jaehaera :(
If I think about it, after the dance there are a couple of Hightowers left alive, but the truth is that Widow isn't close to any of them, so she still feels alone.
Thanks for writing to me, Anon. I hope you're well and I hope you write to me again sometime 🥰💖💖
I do love Jacaerys Velaryon x Aegon’s Widow!Reader, but i can't think of anything else to include since it is so gut-wrenching
Hi, first of all, thank you for letting me know you enjoy my writing. It makes me very happy!!
Honestly, both Jace and Reader make me feel so sorry for them. I want to hug them and protect them from the world. If it's any consolation, I think they'll be able to reach an agreement in the future, and she won't resent him anymore.
Thank you so much for writing, and I hope you're well 🥰💖💖
okay I have read "i am making you feel sick?" like a 6 times already and I need to ask you this. Do younplan to make a part 2, because I need one. But ofc if you don't want to make one it's completely fine but it would make me happier if you did 😔
OMG, I'm so honored that you've read my fic so many times🥹🥹
Bestie I have good news for you, today I am going to publish the sequel!
Thanks for writing, anon. I was so happy to read your message. I hope you like the sequel and that you're doing well 🥰💖💖
